I’m liking this a bit better than the un-uncanny version it’s replacing… mostly due to the Betsy/Warren dynamic. I was glad to see them reuniting and seeing her help with the razorwing subplot should be interesting. Wolverine is a no-brainer for the proactive X-team, but add Fantomex and Deadpool to the mix and it’s downright volatile not to mention quite entertaining. I’m glad to see Cyclops out of the killin biz, didn’t suit him.
The X-Force are in deep trouble. Stranded in the Blue Area of the moon at the hands of the Last Horsemen, EVA decimated, the team scattered, diseased and terribly injured, the situation is beyond hopeless. Ozymandias and the Akkaba Society are a step closer to instigating a new age. Apocalypse is ascending. X-Force is down, outmanned and without aid. That’s it – someone’s going feral.
These new Horsemen kinda make the old batch pale by comparison. Or do they, seems that the Horsemen usually overpower the surprised X-Men, but the mutants prevail once they have their wits about them. But will they have time to regain them? Wolverine and Deadpool have healing factors so a few horribly fatal viruses won’t hold them down for the count.

All the X-blogs are abuzz with talk of the the big X-Men Event to follow on the heels of Necrosha… Second Coming crosses over into X-Men (Uncanny & Legacy), X-Factor, X-Force and New Mutants. The X-Men have their hands full with the technarch-infected mutant-hating/hunting AI entity known as Bastion back yet again to bedevil them. PLUS it looks now that A Girl Named Hope is over and she and Cable are back from the future, the Phoenix is back too. but is Hope Summers really Jean? If so, what, reincarnated? Hope WAS born in Alaska… could she be Madelyne Pryor’s or some Summers/Grey genetic experiment of Mister Sinister’s – he DID come after her before Rogue killed him (and his seemingly short-lived return as Miss Sinister). And if the girl known as Hope Summers IS the Phoenix, does that mean Bishop was right to want her dead? Is she fated to save or damn mutankind? Only time and these stories will tell.
All will unite. One will rise. One will die. One will lead. One will sacrifice. Your thoughts? Mine after the Marvel teaser images…
All will unite – the disparate x-teams will come together. One will rise – will Hope be the return of Phoenix or Dark Phoenix (was Bishop right)? One will die – I’m guessing Cable. One will lead – not sure if it is Emma or Mags – I think Scott may be too broken by his son Nathan’s death (if I’m right) and need some time. One will sacrifice… hmmm Not sure what the sacrifice will be… Maybe Nathan gives his life to save Hope’s… any other theories?
With this crossover running through all the major X-Titles: Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, New Mutants, X-Force and even the usually somewhat unplugged X-Factor, it is a MAJOR event. And with longtime x-foe Bastion as the big bad and specials showcasing the X-Men’s resident supergeniuses (X-MEN: SECOND COMING – REVELATIONS: BLIND SCIENCE #1) and a 3-issue miniseries chronicling an ill-timed side-battle in Limbo (X-MEN: SECOND COMING – REVELATIONS: BLIND SCIENCE #1), we may just have to wait awhile to find out if Hope Summer will we absolutely corrupted by her newfound power or not. See Shades of X to Come – May 2010 for more on those specials!

Some fascinating hints of whats in store for the x-universe… BEWARE: Thar be spoilers below if you click the images and read the captions (including Pixie‘s daddy – and he was one of my listed possible baby batter doners) Lots going on in the XU this spring. We have the return of mutant Hope in the X-Event known as Second Coming running through X-Men (Uncanny & Legacy), X-Factor, X-Force, and New Mutants (more on that in just a sec). Dazzler (new tale with half-sis Lois London as the big bad) and Emma Frost (another origin) specials, cryptic hints on an upcoming X-death, Daken vs Wolverine vs Romulus in Dark Wolverine! and Wolverine #900? wait a sec, I’ll need some help on that math cause that plain seems wrong. Maybe if you add up every issue of every comic that Logan EVER appeared in?
I have to admit that being a HUGE fan of DC’s recent zombies, I was unimpressed by Necrosha (still awaiting the final chapter but, meh) The BL characters in DC were by definition NOT really the characters but former Black Queen and wanna-be-goddess Selene’s unexplained magic/tech and the stories of the Necrosha arc just weren’t that scary or as horrific. Sure I’m happy to have Doug Ramsey back but with this new interpretation of Cypher’s abilities he’s not the same cannon-fodder mutant he once was.

Some fascinating hints of whats in store for the x-universe… The XU (X-Men Legacy, X-Force, New Mutants) is apoppin with zombies doing the bidding of wanna-be-goddess Selene in the first real X-Event of 2010… Necrosha. But its far from the last as Hope is still on her way back from the future and Nate Grey is back so there are all kinds of possibilities for mutants in 2010!
Stay tuned to the various X-Titles for further development…

It really seems to be a big year for the undead. We have zombies and vampires all over the summer blockbusters, cosmic zombies plaguing the DCU and now the X-Men, X-Force and the New Mutants have to watch out for Selene and her gang of techno organic mutant zombies in a terrifying crossover from x-writers Chris Yost, Craig Kyle, Mike Carey, and Zeb Wells.
YES. Selene is back (and this time I’m sure – I’m not confused by Monet in a slutty leather outfit)! We’ve known that she had Blink at her right hand (though not how she is alive or how she hooked up with Selene) since we saw Selene at the end of X-Force #11 with 3 shadowed figures standing alongside her throne. ).
Even in shadow, Clarice Ferguson is unmistakable with her light purple legs and signature chartreuse costume. To Blink‘s right looks to be Wither, and on Selene‘s left is Emplate (from the oversize hands). She’s now gathered a group of mutants with life-draining powers. From last week’s Exodus preview we’ve learned she also has Dazzler‘s half-sister Lois London now know as Mortis and former Acolyte Senyaka with her as well as whatever dead mutants that poor undead enslaved Caliban led her and smitten vampric thrall Eli Bard too.
As to what she’s after… well Selene wants to be a Goddess. And she’s always been more than willing, eager in fact to sacrifice thousands of souls to do it.

Looks like Boom Boom isn’t quite as dead as we feared as the team seems to be returning at the same moment they left. X-23 rushes to save Tabitha from the Leper Queen while the rest of the team tries to stop the Sapien League form exposing Surge and Hellion to the Legacy Virus and accidentally destroying the United Nations building. Talk about hitting the ground running!
“NOT FORGOTTEN” Part 1 (of 4) MESSIAH WAR AFTERMATH! When X-Force was pulled into the future, what was forgotten in the present? The Leper Queen‘s murderous acts? The Sapien League’s attack on the United Nations using two of the X-Men’s students? Wolfsbane‘s reunion with the Asgardian Wolf Prince? H.A.M.M.E.R.‘s hunt for X-23? After three months, the wait is over. Find out who lives and dies as the MESSIAH WAR ONE-SHOT art team of Mike Choi and Sonia Oback returns to X-FORCE!
With X-Force now back from the future, I’m eagerly anticipating more development on all the dangling sub-plots they left behind. Time-out is over!

The War heats up! As Stryfe gets even closer to learning the secret of Hope Summers, Bishop has no choice but to make his move. X-Force has split into two strike teams… but only betrayal and death await them. And the choice Archangel makes will change everything. Plus, the battle a millennia in the making… CABLE vs. STRYFE. I still can’t believe they left Tabitha Smith to be shot in the head by Leper Queen! Hopefully the’ll pop right back to the moment they left? Poor Meltdown (or Boom Boom for you other children of the 80s)!
STRYFE STRIKES! Cable and X-Force’s greatest nemesis returns! The X-event of the decade continues in MESSIAH WAR, and things go from “bad” to “worst case scenario” as X-Force and Cable struggle to keep Hope alive. While Cyclops fights to keep X-Force’s involvement a secret in the present, Cable and Wolverine butt heads in the future over control of the child.
Making matters worse, a member of X-Force abandons the team as an army of darkness descends upon them, leaving the team a man down with their backs to the wall. Past, present and future collide as the war for Mutantkind’s survival continues. Part 3 (of 7)

Do we really care if the Leper Queen uses Hellion as a telekinetic dirty bomb? He’s always been kind of a prick. I know he and Emma had some kind of connection as amoral psis, but no one really likes him anyway, right? I know he’s hot. But isn’t everyone in comics?
PRELUDE TO WAR! The Leper Queen is creating weapons out of mutants, and using them against humanity to stir the fires of hate against mutants. But as X-Force tracks her down, they don’t realize how close to home she’s struck.
Meanwhile, Wolfsbane is still dealing with the return of Hrimhari, the Wolf Prince from Asgard, and Cyclops prepares to send X-Force on the most important mission of their lives…whether they like it or not. You MUST NOT miss this ending, leading directly into X-FORCE/CABLE: MESSIAH WAR.

I’m still digging this series. I love the realistic painterly art and am enjoying a look at the darker side of these heroes. Cyclops cannot keep this groups actions from the main camp forever. I think once Cable returns from the future with the baby and Stryfe shows up, Emma is going to figure out that there is REALLY something big going on and find a way into that secret place in Scott’s mind.
Cyclops and Wolverine struggle to deal the growing threats facing mutants while still keeping X-Force’s existence a secret from the X-Men. Warpath is out for vengeance, Wolfsbane is missing and X-23 keeps cutting off pieces of Vanisher. But worst of all? One mutant’s deadly actions will put mutantkind squarely back in the crosshairs of humanity. Things were bad before but they’re about to get a hell of lot worse.

Here we go again with the evil twins. CBR is heralding Cable’s genetic clone Stryfe‘s return to life in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel Comics has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at the cover of “X-Force” #14 by Clayton Crain. On sale in April and written by Christopher Yost & Craig Kyle with artwork by Crain, this issue features the return of fan favorite villain Stryfe as part of the upcoming Messiah War event — but wait, wasn’t he dead?
Marvel had no comment, but fans curious about Stryfe’s reappearance should stay with CBR News for more as this story develops.
As previously reported on CBR, Messiah War is the follow-up to the best-selling X-Books crossover event Messiah Complex. The event begins in March with the one-shot special, ‘X-Force/Cable: Messiah War Prologue.” For more on Messiah War, check out CBR’s interview with Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Mike Choi.

The Demon Bear, Ghost Rider, The Legacy Virus, Mister Sinister (what happened to Miss?), Vanisher (when did this disappearing baldy get all tatted up and hot?), Domino (she’s back and she’s bad), Cameron Hodge (never cared for him) and his anti-mutant organization, The Right all in one issue – nuff said.

As Warpath fights for his life and very soul in the American Southwest, Wolverine gets lucky in Japan. Because you demanded it, DOMINO joins X-Force. Vanisher has begrudgingly led the team right to the abandoned labs of recently deceased MISTER SINISTER, but X-Force’s enemies are right on their heels. PLUS: What’s happening to Wolfsbane? Won’t the rest of the former New X-Men miss Elixir eventually? I hadn’t really thought about his presence there, but he IS a security leak. I’m still waiting for an explanation for the razor-winged Archangel we saw in Secret Invasion X-Men #2 in which we ALSO saw Angel (Warren flying with feathered wings). Either Warren can now change back and forth at will or someone else has the wings too….

The stealth suits are cool, and might actually function for a black-ops team (I don’t see a big red X on it which would make the whole deniability thing more complicated).

Although the most recent incarnation of X-Force hasn’t been around as long as some of the other X-factions, there have been events happening within its pages that could shake the X-verse to its core.
The bloodthirsty crew of anti-heroes Cyclops has assembled must slice their way through some of the vilest villains ever to endanger a Marvel Mutant. Not only have the writers resurrected Bastion, Cameron Hodge and Bolivar Trask (among others), but they’ve also returned high flying golden boy Warren Worthington III to his Archangel persona (tho I’d guess due to Simone Bianchi’s designs for the character in Astonishing X-Men that he won’t stay that way for long)
Read the Newsarama article and CBR article with X-Force co-writer Chris Yost
He even explains the completely unexpected X-Force Legacy of vengeance Rainbows and Puppies cover for the reprint of issues 1-3.
