When I first implemented the SFW and NSFW tags as a method for users to sort content, I realized that it made no sense to enable such sorting if the ads were going to be XXX. But thanks to a new widget recommended by the programmer who finetuned the last details of this theme for me, I now have the ability to have ad image links that vary depending on what category is being viewed (based it on top post).
This has necessitated me switching from using NSFW and SFW tags (which I am phasing out) to NSFW and SFW Categories. No real change except to the URL you will bookmark. So if you like to view this site in its SFW format…

Well maybe for awhile. We’ll see.
It seems since the beginning, the pages of the X-Men have contained a great love story. Although the courtship and relationship of Scott and Jean was interrupted briefly by her “death,” it picked up right where it left off upon her return. Other romances have been written (Scott and Madelyne, Scott and Emma, Alex and Lorna, Kitty and Pietor, Betsy and Warren, Rogue and Magneto) but only one other pairing has generated anywhere near the support as that of Scott and Jean… the impossible (until now) romance of Rogue and Gambit.
Despite the fact that her powers make physical touch impossible, these two fell in love. They’ve had some times when she was depowered or had her powers temporarily inhibited, but other than that it was strictly no skin to skin contact. Until now. As of X-Men Legacy #224, Rogue is cured. Xavier (with the aid of a now helpful Danger) was able to remove personality partitions in her mind and allow her powers to reach their “mature phase”for the first time.
My prediction: Scott and Emma are breaking up so Rogue and Remy get to be the big romance for awhile. Next time Scott is stable with Emma (or Jean for that matter), Rogue’s lack of control may come back – (perhaps while she’s dramatically pregnant).
So we saw what happens when she DOESN’T use her powers… nothing. But I wonder if there are any other differences to the mature phase of her powers besides her newfound control? I’m looking forward to getting to know the all-new Rogue, but I’m still not sure how I feel about them “fixing” such a fundamental part of the character.
The film achieved over 1 million views in the first week of release in May 2009. (Dailymotion) and wide press acclaim for it’s high production values on a microbudget.
Dracula is still up to no good whatsoever and Pete Wisdom and his crew are all that stands between the fanged one and total control of Britain!
Betrayal runs rampant! Spitfire is offered a high rank in the vampire state—will she take it? Does she have a chance? A traitor is discovered in the ranks of British Intelligence. But what are the chances that he’s the only one. Pete Wisdom’s main concern is keeping his people alive, but with his track record and who they’re up against, it’s not looking good.
UPDATE: if things are darkest before the dawn – lets hope the freaking sun will burn these vamps to hell – because its not looking good for Pte Wisdom and the rest of MI-13 at this point. Good issue – I like this series a heckuva lot if only because it genuinely surprises me on a regular basis. My only superpower is plot prediction and thus far the writers have stymied me.
Bullseye cuts loose in this DARK REIGN tie-in! Reporter Ben Urich investigates a brutal massacre that has all the hallmarks of the notorious assassin Bullseye. But can Urich connect the murders to the Dark Avenger known as Hawkeye? Norman Osborn must bring H.A.M.M.E.R. down to hide the awful truth before it tears the team apart—and poisons the Avengers’ noble legacy forever!
The killer creative team of Andy Diggle (THUNDERBOLTS) and Tom Raney (SECRET INVASION: INHUMANS) spins the spotlight on one of Marvel’s most controversial characters!
UPDATE: even though I don’t like the fact that Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers are the status quo, I have to admit – it makes for FANTASTIC storytelling. With Ben Urich on the case – Normie better watch out. Ben may be smart enough to NOT let H.A.M.M.E.R. continue to pull wool over the public’s eyes. But it will take at least 3 more months…. So how long do YOU think the Dark Reign will last? And how will it end? At whose hands?
I’m loving this series – I just hope that Stonewall actually SAYS SOMETHING soon. They are taking the strong silent type thing WAAAAY to seriously.
The most talked about new Marvel series rolls on as we find out the answer to the question: What happened to all the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Plus, Daisy Johnson recruits a new member to replace a fallen comrade, the kids spy on Nick Fury and we follow the Colonel as he starts his one man war against the endless hordes of HYDRA.

Not one, but two members of the Secret Six feel they deserve to wear Batman’s cowl, and they return to Gotham City with a semi-delusional Ragdoll determined to be the new Boy Wonder! Unfortunately, everybody in Gotham has other plans!

I had been wondering what DC was going to do with yet another Flash running around, and it seems like they found a role for Barry Allen after all… quick Death.
The Black Flash serves as a psychopomp to the speedsters of the DCU. His fateful touch returns DCU speedsters to the source of their powers: the Speed Force.
Whether the Black Flash exists because the speedster characters are simply too fast for traditional Death to capture, or as some sort of bizarre side-effect to their connection to the Speed Force is still unclear.
Apparently the Black Flash has been recently been revealed to represent the “Dark Aspect” of the Speed Force, which is responsible for the empowerment of Wally West’s children, Iris and Jai.
The charred corpse of the last Black Flash was seen in Flash : Rebirth #1 and in #2, it was revealed that the recently returned Barry Allen is now the new Black Flash, and his death touch has already taken out Savitar and former Lady Flash – Christina Alexandrova. And it looks like Gorilla Grodd, or Solovar (or someone ELSE in charge at Gorilla City seems to have some inside knowledge of what is going on – which is more than anyone in the Flash family knows.

But don’t let that put you off it. Really.
Now I am certainly no biblical scholar, but its amazing what you can pick up online. I had heard that Kings was based (not sure how loosely – thus far its sticking pretty close to its source material in one way or another) on the story of King David (also the David of …and Goliath), and the lead boy is oh-so cute Aussie Christopher Egan as David Shepard, so I thought I would give it a tumble. I’m glad I did. Combining ancient Court intrigue with a modern setting makes for juicy prime-time drama.
Kings is set in the nation of Gilboa, which technologically and culturally resembles the present-day United States; the government, however, is an absolute monarchy. Gilboa is ruled by King Silas Benjamin, who originally formed the kingdom two decades prior from three warring countries. He believes his power to be divine, often citing a day when a swarm of butterflies landed on his head in the form of “a living crown.” All is not well for Silas: his policies and actions are being manipulated by his queen’s brother, William Cross, who holds substantial control over the royal treasury; his heir, Prince Jack, is secretly homosexual, which could undermine the royal family; and Silas himself is secretly seeing a mistress, whom he had apparently left in order to marry Queen Rose for political gain.
Events of the series are set into motion when young David Shepherd, a Gilboan soldier in a war against the kingdom of Gath, single-handedly rescues a group of captive soldiers from behind enemy lines. One of these captives is Prince Jack, and David becomes an instant star in national media, much to the chagrin of the prince. King Silas brings David into the capital city of Shiloh, where he is promoted to captain and thrust into the position of military liaison to the media. He soon finds himself in the midst of royal court politics, currently with little awareness of the forces acting behind them; he also develops feelings for Silas’ daughter, Princess Michelle, which she seems to reciprocate. In the pilot episode, he too experiences the “crown” of butterflies, after Silas is told that God no longer supports his reign, implying David to be the divine choice for the next king in line. Silas witnesses this event, and is plainly troubled by it.
Although far from religious, I spent a semester in high school (non-denominational private school) studying The Bible as in Literature and it gave me an appreciation for the stories within. Parts of the bible are a great read if you can get past the arcane speech and remember it’s JUST a book. Here are the first 3 episodes via hulu.
After the first episode I was hankering for a map of Gilboa and someone got right on that wish and provided a whole website full of news etc. for the nation of Gilboa and its shiny new capitol Shiloh.
I’m not sure if they will speak to the much discussed closeness of the relationship between the King’s son Jack (who from the beginning of the series you would think will be a great foe of David, but according to the biblical tale, he “loves” David, recognizes him as the true king and helps him take his father’s throne) played by Sebastian Stan (who you might recognize as one the the supernatural supermodels of The Covenant) and David but they did “out” Price Jack when his boyfriend shows up and says I love you and earlier in the episode we learned that his father is aware of his proclivities. Prince Jack was NOT nice to the man who loves him, having him thrown out so no one might see and connect them. Starting out as a preening, pompous, egotistical, self-centered, self-loathing brat gives Prince Jack nowhere to go but up. I hope the friendship between David and the Prince is central to this show and with his honesty and strength of character, Davis helps Jack to become a better man.
I fear Kings may go the way of other surprisingly smart series’ like Studio 60 and Sports Night, but I will enjoy the rise until the fall. The cast also includes Ian McShane as King Silas and Susanna Thompson as Queen Rose (some of you may recognize her as Judith from Book of Daniel).

What is with the disconnect between the Countdown Black Mary Marvel on the Cover and the Final Crisis Black Mary Marvel on the interior? How hard is it to pick a Black Mary Marvel costume? If the current costume looks too silly on the cover (as I think the balding anime pigtails would) – ask the artist to pitch with something better.

At this point no surprises here, but next week, at long last the Teen Titans get a new line-up. From the cover, it looks like Aquagirl, Static, Bombshell, Miss Martian and Kid Eternity will be joining Wonder Girl, Blue Beetle and Red Devil on the front lines for the upcoming Vigilante/Titans/Teen Titans crossover… Deathtrap! Having M’gan back will be good for the team as it has been lacking is power with recent defections.
Get ready for the debut of the new Teen Titans line-up! What surprising heroes show up as part of the team? Who made the cut and who got sent home? And where do they go from here?
Those of you who haven’t enjoyed the recent ride should be happy to hear that Sean McKeever is abandoning writing the main series after issue #71. I haven’t minded so much and actually enjoyed the Wonderdog subplot. I’m also inrigued that the ailing Wendy is the daughter of the Calculator who blames the Titans for her injuries. McKeever will still write the Ravager back-up stories that will be included with Teen Titans as of issue 72. I hope they bring her back into the Titan’s fold.

The GayVN tailgate parties were awesome last night. We started out at Qbar where the Falcon boys were and got freebies of Roman’s Holiday and Rough Play. After that we continued on to ACTIVATE! at Lookout which was populated with HotHouse men. As we got there so did the Falcon Boys – Roman Heart with boyfriend Benjamin Bradley in tow, Aden and Jordan Jaric, Erik Rhodes and Rough Play coverboy TJ Hawke. I got the DVD’s signed of course and will eventually be offering them up as prizes!
Anyway the gossip comes from a moment where I was up on the V.I.P. platform having the Jaric’s sign a DVD when who should walk in but a certain Russian press hungry self made porn star/mogul who is based in New York. He proceed to stroll briskly from one end of the V.I.P. area to the other without so much as a glance to the Falcon boys, much less a hello. I could tell from the expressions of the guys faces that they definitely noticed the snub. Who knew he was so rude. Well Its not a surprise from the tone of most of his blog posts.
And that was just a pre-party… who knows what I’ll see tonight.
Project Rooftop is a place for cartoonists and illustrators apply their costume design skills to to the superheroes and villains we’ve grown up with. Their most recent costume creation contest (with prizes from Rogues Gallery) called for artists to redesign the Batman uniform to suit his most likely successor, Dick Grayson A.K.A. Robin A.K.A. Nightwing. Here are the winning entries as well as some of the runners up.
Check out Horoscope, a stylish Zodiac based series of beefcake pin-ups by talented Toronto-based Illustrator and comic book artist J.Bone. I ended up digging through his boyblog Man’s Adventure after spotting 2 sketches he did of site favorite RJ Danvers (they are below the Horoscope images).
J.Bone has another blog that is not quite as hunkcentric (lots more ladies) but still filled with great pop culture themed images. You can also find t-shirts, backpacks, mugs, mousepads, clocks, throw pillows and journals with his unique brand of beefcake on them from J.Bone’s CafePress store.

I am glad to see these two side by side again. I hope they can rekindle the old romance. I was a big West Coast Avengers fan back in the day. It’s great to see rodays writers mining that era for new ideas (without WCA, we would not have Wiccan and Speed).
Ronin & Mockingbird have found each other again, but they might be wishing they hadn’t! There’s a ticking time bomb out there and these two are going to have to either set aside their issues or duke it out before an entire city goes “BOOM!” Odds are there’ll be a fight!
Plus, what secret has Bobbi been carrying with her since BEFORE the Secret Invasion?
No gay porn or nudity whatsoever – but sometimes the geek runs stronger than the gay… This looks completely freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!l! It definitely hit the right long lot memory buttons. Where the Wild Things Are was my favorite storybook of all time as a child.
An adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world–a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler.
I am so proud that the new generation of gay youth is outspoken and unafraid to confront authority. I cannot imagine the courage it takes to stand up and do what he did at that age.

I’m still hoping that her well publicized impending “death” will end up being part of a larger plot to foil Norman Osborn. After all Carol Danvers has been through – mind control raped, depowered with her memories wiped, re-empowered as Binary, re-redepowered as Warbird and hitting bottom an alcoholic before rediscovering herself when an alternate reality showed he the hero she could be – she deserves better than to die at the hands of Norman Osborn or any of his low life minions.
It’s a throwdown in Hong Kong against the mysteriously powered Ghazi as Ms. Marvel finally discovers the origin of her mysterious enemy. However, Carol has been keeping a secret connected to the Dark Reign concerning Norman Osborn and it may just mean she won’t survive the fight.
Fingers crossed everyone! Lets just hope Carol is faking her death so she can go after Norman unfettered. We love you Ms Marvel – don’t die! ADDITIONAL COMMENT: Um since when has Carol Danvers had a Powergirl-sized pair? Lately it seems like they are making each boob as big as her head.
UPDATE: Just finished the issue. I still don’t approve. Unfortunately it looks unlikely that Carol faked her death. BUT it was the kind of death that the Marvel Universe has seen before. Any comic writer worth his salt can just write that she has been transformed to an energy being and have her reform herself as Wonder Man has many times before.
Let us hope we haven’t seen the last of Carol Danvers, as her “death” looks more like an “ascension” and there was no body. Hmmmm, wasn’t that the codename for the project that gives Ghazi his powers?
if you love Carol Danvers and want to save her – sign the petition and tell your friends!

I’m hoping this arc will mean the return of Heather Douglas. I’ve always had a soft spot for imperious bald telepaths. Well not really, but I do like the character.
If Captain Marvel is no more, how is he here? With War of Kings about to explode across the galaxy, two of the Guardians face death itself! Drax and Quasar journey beyond the veil of life in a desperate quest to find Moondragon. But what is waiting for them on the other side, and will it ever let them return? It’s a double shot of cosmic horror – that plants the seeds for where GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is heading next!
I’m glad to see Wendell Vaughn showing up again too. Good thing Quasar was in the neighborhood, it looks like Drax and Phyla could use the help. I hope he and Moondragon become a regular part of the line-up.
Personally I am a BIG fan of sarcasm. Sad thing is the people being made fun of probably aren’t smart enough to get the joke (but are they watching Jimmy Kimmel anyweay – well maybe, his is not an audience of rocket scientists). Or does that just make it funnier?
