Today, the whole world knows him as Magneto, the most radical champion of mutant rights that mankind has ever seen. But in 1935, he was just another schoolboy — who happened to be Jewish in Nazi Germany. The definitive origin story of one of Marvel’s greatest icons begins with a silver chain and a crush on a girl — and quickly turns into a harrowing struggle for survival against the inexorable machinery of Hitler’s Final Solution. From “X-Men: Phoenix–Endsong” writer Greg Pak and award-winning artist Carmine Di Giandomenico.
The biggest House of M story is finally revealed: how did Magneto take over the world? He began life as a penniless refugee, but rose to conquer the entire planet…and now Christos Gage (Thunderbolts, House of M: Avengers) and Andrea Di Vito (Annihilation) show you how the Master of Magnetism did it! Witness Magneto’s first battle with the Sentinels…the tragic end of his marriage…and his fight against Apocalypse for leadership of all mutants! The secret history of the House of M unfolds here!
Magik is back with a vengeance! According to Marvel jack-of-all-trades C.B. Cebulski, X-Infernus actually started life as an Uncanny X-Men Annual that he and David Finch were planning, featuring the long-awaited return of beloved fan favorite Illyana “Magik” Rasputin. But David Finch was chosen as artist for Ultimatum with Jeph Loeb, he couldn’t say no, so the Magik Annual got put into Limbo so to speak. Given certain events that were happening in the current X-Universe, editor Nick Lowe resurrected the project. Lowe and Marvel Sales guru David Gabriel liked the overall concept so much they felt an Annual would be limiting, so they came up with the idea to turn it into a four issue mini-series with covers by David Finch.
Sketches above are by just announced interior artist… Giuseppe “Cammo” Camuncoli!
Can the divided teams reunite and conquer the Skrulls? Can Hulking fulfill the prophecy and become a Skrull messiah? What will become of Xavin after the dust settles in this concluding chapter?
Continuing the shocking exploration of the dark side of the Ultimate Unverse! For the first time we learn: How did Nick Fury become Nick Fury? How did the Hulk become the Hulk? And, finally, how did a baby Peter Parker connect to it all? Plus: the Ultimate Watcher has appeared and he is here to witness the Ultimatum!
Marvel’s mutants recent mass exodus to the bay area took the San Francisco Skrulls by surprise, but they’ve brought in some reinforcements who they THINK can handle the X-Men. Smart money is on the mutants.
CBR spoke with Matt Fraction on “who was that dude with Pixie” and other important stuff… (he was “just a dude — a friend of Pixie’s — not a mutant himself”).
One question about last issue… how did the mutie-bashers KNOW Karma was a mutant? She doesn’t have butterfly wings or a tail or ANY outward sign of her mutancy.
One of my favorite youTubers and mySpacers… the Gay Comic Geek has posted his review of the Marvel Team-Up Freedom Ring trade paperback. For those who don’t know, until he was killed off, Freedom Ring was a new gay superhero with the ability to alter reality with a 25 foot radius.
I’d been considering buying the trade paperback, but the violent way they unnecessarily killed the character really makes me not want to read it. Also I’m pretty sure I got the gist of his story from Crusader’s flashback montage in Avengers: Initiative. The the Gay Comic Geek and I see eye to eye on this one. Introducing gay characters isn’t progressive if they just become victims (Ok so Northstar ISN’T dead in Ultimate X-Men - they still crippled the freaking speedster - talk about cruel). I’m sick of it. I’m still REALLY hoping that the new Stonewall will be gay and become a model for a strong, heroic gay man.
OK, since the 80’s we’ve seen Lady Mandarin, the Lady Mastermind, Miss Sinister, a teenaged female Kraven and now we get Lady Bullseye? Who wants to see the reverse? I want to see a new White King in a Speedo and thigh-high boots. I want to see Vampifella running around in a red thong. I want the a blond Enchanter to seduce some Assgardians in a green kilt and bustier. The only exception I can think of is MistiQ from New Exiles, but I dropped that after he introduced a blond cajun Gambit that was son of the Invisible woman and T’Challa the Sub Mariner. Why is it that turning a male character into a female one is so common but you rarely see the reverse.
Looks like her costume was designed by a horny straight guy. C’mon, what self-respecting killer assassin would or even could wear a hootchie-mama outfit like that into mortal combat. It must be painted on. And she must have VERY small nipples.
Place your bets! Who would you put your money on - Tony Stark or Ikarus? As time runs out for Earth, the Eternals are divided. Betrayals have broken them into factions, and the newly awakened Forgotten One isn’t happy with either side! Oh yeah, and Tony Stark has had enough of their shenanigans…
Manifest Destiny appears to be a new anthology of short X-Men stories (similar to Divided We Stand). The premiere issue features the first installment of a new Iceman story, as well as stories about Boom Boom and Karma.
You Defenders fans might have spotted Devil-Slayer on the Initiative’s Hawaii team and he was last seen teleporting the 3D man to Camp Hammond. From there he apparently loses his government connections and everything else… but gets a new series all his own.
Abandoned by his fiance, his family, his church, and his government, Sergeant Dan Sylva returns to Iraq for a third tour of duty — and a descent into Hell itself. If the demon Belathauzer and the mysterious mercenary group known as Bloodstone have their way, Iraq, the place where civilization began, may also be where civilization ends. The reinvented Devil-Slayer takes Marvel’s DEAD OF NIGHT to terrifying new heights, from award-winning horror novelist Brian Keene and artist Chris Samnee.
… and she knows about it. Since Layla Miller “knows stuff,” and says she will marry Madrox, I’m guessing she knows she’ll get home to her own timeline somehow. I do look forward to unprecedented insight into the mutant liberating, “Summers rebellion.”
True Believers is a fun, new series about a group of dysfunctional super-powered truth seekers shining an inquisitive light on the hidden secrets of the Marvel universe. It really is one of the fresher concepts I’ve come across this summer. Issue #2 is due Wednesday and and it doesn’t tie into anything.
Can it be true? Reed Richards pulled over for recklessly driving the Fantasticar and charged with a DUI? That’s what the TRUE BELIEVERS claim in their latest blog–and they’ve posted the arrest report, police cam footage and a degrading mug-shot to prove it!
