Marvel Comics has just released this new teaser image featuring the Fantastic Four and hints of the various threats and events they’ll face in 2010. I see a few familiar faces but I’m MOST excite to see Franklin Richards on the road to being the interesting and powerful character he once was. Why is it that when a writer doesn’t know what to do with an omnipotent character, they just neuter them? I’m tired of seeing him overshadowed by his new brilliant little sister. I like Valeria too, but I grew up with Franklin – hmmm shouldn’t he be older than? oh well.
This image and the previously released image of Galactus’ corpse suggest big things for Marvel’s first family in 2010!

I almost wish I really hated what was happening in at least ONE Avenger title so I didn’t feel compelled to followthem all, but goddammit they are all solid exciting storylines. I love the whole Lady Loki as Scarlet Witch subplot. But I DO want to know what the REAL Wanda is up to. So I hope Thor is able to kick Loki out of that body and restore Lady Sif relatively soon – poor Sif has been hanging by a thread in that old lady’s cancer ridden form for too long. This issue of Mighty Avengers (#26) we have more of Reed Richards and Hank Pym knocking heads. Next issue (#27) is the introduction of a brand new retconned master villain (cuz we all like it so much on the hero side with Sentry), and the issue after (#28) that it’s the Young Avengers vs THE SCARLET WITCH (Lady Loki)!!!
The Avengers/Fantastic Four slobberknocker continues! This one’s got it all true believers: from MR. FANTASTIC and HANK PYM’S battle of the brains to HERCULES and THE THING’S battle o’ the brawn! When it’s over, expect BIG changes for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes– including the team’s all-new headquarters and a very disturbing DARK REIGN alliance.

The Mighty Avengers think they were assembled by the Scarlet Witch, while it is in fact Lady Loki who gathered them, but to what end? What does she want? Is she just hedging her bets with Norman Osborn or does she have something else up her sleeve?
What would be the greatest heist of all time? Breaking into the First National Bank? The Tower of London? Fort Knox? No. It’d be knocking over the BAXTER BUILDING! But why would HANK PYM want to rip off MR. FANTASTIC? And are the other AVENGERS ready to become Earth’s Mightiest Cat Burglars?

One of the most interesting things to come out of the Mark Millar / Bryan Hitch run on the Fantastic Four was a brand new group of legacy heroes from generations in the future. Well besides Doc Doom murdering An elderly Sue Storm from the future in revenge for a humiliating power draining procedure (that was interesting too). If you liked Future Sue’s troops too, you are in luck!
The Hooded Man, Banner Jr, Lightwave, Psionics, Natalie X and Alex Ultron can be seen in the pages of Fantastic Force by writer Joe Ahearne and artist Steve Kurth starting in April.
The script for the first page has been “leaked” all over the net, but doesn’t reveal much other than it picks up where the funeral issue left off. The second issue’s cover says alot more. What do Polaris, Phoenix and the Scarlet Witch have to do with this group of heroes born generations later? Any guesses?

Congrats to Benjamin Jacob Grimm the blue eyed ever-loving Thing and some girl named Debbie whom he proposed to in the last issue of Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch’s big screen FF. What do we know about her? She’s not on his wiki page – someone want to update that for me? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Frye? Frye?

Writer, Mark Millar and Artists Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary’s built-for-the-big-screen stint on Fantastic Four comes to a head this month with the “The Galactus Engine”, the concluding chapter of their epic “Death of the Invisible Woman” arc. It’s been a roller coaster of a read and if you missed it, I’m sure it will make a must have trade paperback.

Marvel has released this advance teaser image for “Ultimatum,” the new Marvel Comics miniseries by Jeph Loeb and David Finch that “promises to radically change the nature of the Ultimate Universe”. The image depicts X-Men villain Magneto seated upon a throne and apparently in possession of the hammer of Thor. The image was accompanied with the following statement:
For What They’ve Done, They Will Have To Pay The Ultimate Price.

If you love the classic What If? title way back when, then you are in for a treat this December. We get 5 new What If stories for the holidays… “What if Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and Wolverine became Fantastic Four after the originals died?” “What if Iron Man died instead of Captain America?” “What If Mary Jane Had Been Shot Instead Of Aunt May?” “What if Dr. Doom won the Secret War?” “What if Scarlet Witch had ended the HOUSE OF M by saying “NO MORE POWERS!”
There are actually SIX stories if you count each issues chapter of the 5-part back-up story… a “What if the Runaways became the Young Avengers.”

True Believers is a fun, new series about a group of dysfunctional super-powered truth seekers shining an inquisitive light on the hidden secrets of the Marvel universe. It really is one of the fresher concepts I’ve come across this summer. Issue #2 is due Wednesday and and it doesn’t tie into anything.
Can it be true? Reed Richards pulled over for recklessly driving the Fantasticar and charged with a DUI? That’s what the TRUE BELIEVERS claim in their latest blog–and they’ve posted the arrest report, police cam footage and a degrading mug-shot to prove it!

I’m interested if this “Doc Banner” is a time traveler or from an alternate dimension. Bryan Hitch’s art will always sucker me in so I’m game.

The X-Men of the Ultimate future travel back in time to assasinate the present day Ultimate Fantastic Four, only to find the future Ultimate Fantastic Four standing in their way… Won’t get me over the slaughter of Northstar, but I may read it anyway.

Johnny, Ben, Franklin, Valeria and Lyja have to stage a prison break to get some mad scientist level assistance to get themselves and the Baxter Building the hell outta the Negative Zone and back to the hot zone that is NYC. Frying pan, Fire.

Johnny and Lyja bring domestic violence to a new level with the fate of the Fantastic Four (or at least 2 of them + the kids) hanging in the balance. I loved the first issue and this one looks great so far. I’ve wanted to see a real showdown with these two for awhile. Will Johnny defeat her in battle, or will his charm warm the cockles of Lyja’s heart again?

Johnny, Ben and the kids, trapped in the Negative Zone, need to recruit help from a criminal incarcerated within the Negative Zone prison that Reed Richards built in order to escape! Talk about karma biting you in the ass.

FANBOI’s RANDOM Secret Invasion theory #1 – replaced heroes are not necessarily replaced by just ONE skrull…

Cover to Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #’s 1 (and the originally solicited cover with “mystery betrayer”)
OK, we all saw the Baxter Building blown to the Negative Zone in Secret Invasion #1 with The Human Torch, the Thing, Franklin and Valeria all inside. We know Sue was supposed to be in Vancouver, so is either in Canada (not sure how this figures into the epic Millar/Hitch/Curie FF) or a replaced captive? Needless to say our Skrully friends have targeted Marvel’s first family.
Cover to Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #2 (with Lyja!!!!!) after the jump…
