Both Northstar AND Alpha Flight first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #120 (April 1979) and were created by the X-Men’s artist at the time John Byrne - who went on to create the later Alpha Flight series.

1. The Mormon church did not donate a single cent in support of Prop. 8. The “Mormon” donations were made by individuals who belong to the Mormon church. The church involvement in question was the issuance of a four-paragraph memo encouraging church members to support Prop 8.

2. To argue that the Mormon church’s 501(c)3 tax-exempt status, one must argue either that a) the issuance of a four-paragraph memo constitutes a “substantial part of [the church's] activities,” or b), that the activities of individual members of the Mormon religion are legally attributable to their church. Good luck making either point of law.

What you are arguing for isn’t the application of current law, but a CHANGE of the law. This will require an act of Congress. Petitioning the IRS to tax the Mormon church basically asks them to break the law–as it currently stands. If you want to get the law changed, petition CONGRESS, not an administrative agency.

If Congress passes a law addressing the issue, it better make sure it’s not specifically targeting any one particular religious group…otherwise the Supreme Court will chuck out the new law on equal protection grounds within its year of passage.

That said, ten-year-old Hiro needs to grow up fast. It was cute for a couple of minutes, but it feels like a comic-relief gimick. Good writing can cover that with wit (for examples see pretty much everything Joss Whedon has ever written).

On the other hand, the writers have done a very good job making most of the villains at least somewhat sympathetic and giving many of our heroes some flaws. It makes for far more believable characters.
