Gays in Film - A Retrospective by billysscreeningroom. A brief history of over 100 years of gay love, laughter, joy, tears and of course some skin in about 4 minutes. There are so many classic moments of movie history in this video.
Directors Tobias Martin and Rodney Sewell ask the cinematic question… If your girlfriend tells you your buddy is the better kisser, how do you prove her wrong?
This is a lovely short film, about old age, youth, curiosity, secrecy, stolen moments, sense memory, love, family, acceptance, belonging and melancholy. Shout out to the blog I spotted this on Wicked Gay Blog - he always has the most interesting items.
As GLBT people of a certain generation we certainly take for granted certain freedoms of which our predecessors never dreamed. At least here in the United States and most of the free world we do. There are still many places not as fortunate.
Here is the trailer for director Robert Cary’s Save Me, a love story between men set in the ex-gay movement. Chad Allen’s character, Mark is a troubled young party boy forced into a Christian-run ministry in an attempt to “cure” his homosexuality, where he meets Scott (Robert Gant - Michael Novotny’s love interest).
Oh MY GOD! This is the most brilliant cartoon I have ever had the good fortune to personally witness. PLEASE tell your friends! and tell them to tell two friends and so on, share it on you own blogs, show it to yo mamma, whatever. just spread it virally.
If you loved Another Gay Movie… then you just might be amused by the sequel. Trailer doesn’t seem as laugh out loud as the first, but I still want to see it. Though I am bummed they didn’t get all the original cast back. It’s due out on August 22, 2008.
I like to keep a lookout for new gay cinema and spotted this scene from After Sex the other day on WayOutWest and it seems worth watching. I may be projecting, but I just don’t buy the curious fratboy trying out for the catcher position before he even has a shot at bat, (Freddy must have some serious game when it comes to seduction lines) but I’ll check it out when I can find a copy and let you know what I think. The movie is a collection of both straight and gay relationship stories. Anyone else seen it?
After Sex is a relationship comedy that uses sex as a background to examine intimacy and vulnerability. It’s a humorous, yet honest look at modern day relationships told through nine couples.
Written and Directed by Eric Amadio. 2007 Freddy (Tanc Sade) and Jay (Noel Fisher)
Through witty dialogue and compromising situations, the film takes us from the beginning of a relationship to the aftermath of one, and examines every stage in between while somehow finding humor within the drama, heartache and confusion of it all.
But Mark Christopher’s director’s cut was secretly screened at OutFest (listed in the festival program: “Set in 1970, New York City. The most glamorous nightclub the world has ever known. The original tale of a bisexual bartender, a busboy and an ambitious coat check girl”). I don’t think its available for purchase at the moment, but I’ll watch for it just to see Ryan Philippe’s awakening.
Brideshead, the new feature film version of Brideshead Revisited (starring Michael Gambon, Emma Thompson, Matthew Goode, Ben Whishaw and Greta Scacchi) has sparked heated debate about changes to the plot.
Conflicting info on the release date. It says July 25 at Trailer Addict, but Queerty says August 1st
From Race You to the Bottom Bisexual travel writer Nathan (Cole Williams, Harry & Max) and lover Maggie (Buffy TVS’s Tara - Amber Benson) visit romantic hot spots in Napa Valley. Nathan and Maggie’s “ex,” Joe, (Smallville’s Green Arrow - Justin Hartly) share a moment in the barn.
and here’s a bonus video of Justin sharing his acting secrets.
I need to see this movie. I keep hearing good things and I love the clips I keep finding. Time to do some virtual shopping. Amazon is releasing it May 27, 2008, but don’t buy it there! I’m annoyed because they won’t take affiliate links from sites that have porn. So buy it at a gay bookstore near you. I’m working on finding a cool store I can link to that won’t discriminate against me for blogging on porn, yet also carries something BESIDES porn.

Surfer Zach (Wright) in his free time draws and hangs out with his best friend Gabe (Thomas). He also hangs out with his best friend’s hot older brother Shaun (Rowe). You may remember blond prettyboy Brad Rowe as Billy’s crush object from Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss (or many other things, he’s been busy)
Forced to give up his dreams of art school, Zach spends his days working a dead-end job and helping his needy sister care for her son. In his free time he surfs, draws and hangs out with his best friend, Gabe, who lives on the wealthy side of town.
When Gabe’s older brother, Shaun, returns home, he is drawn to Zach.
