Today we have a dual milestone. In addition to being New Year’s Eve 2008. This very post marks the milestone of 1000 articles on this blog since its inception in April of this year! May there be another thousand for 2009! See you next year boys!!! Have fun tonight - I’m out on the town. Drive safe and drink responsibly. If you can’t handle that take a cab, bum a ride or just walk dammit! Happy New Year!
I thought I’d dig up some of the most thought and/or boner provoking posts from HeroesNHunks first year… Enjoy! I’ll probably add more tomorrow. If I left off a 2008 HeroesNHunks post you enjoyed - PLEASE comment with a link and I’ll add it to the list!
If you haven’t yet decked the Halls its time to whip out the tinsel. Christmas Eve has always been my favorite part of this holiday. My family (Me, Mom and Dad) always sat by the fireplace listening to Carols as we opened presents from each other Christmas Eve and opened the rest on Christmas Day when the extended family congregated for dinner. In recent years TBS has added another tradition - watching A Christmas Story at least once during their annual 24-hour marathon. 2008 marks TBS’s 12th annual A Christmas Story marathon.
Second Guessing Grandma - a heartwarming short film set in the 80’s about a young man educating his beloved elderly Jewish grandma as he comes out to her.
The original theatrical trailer for the modern Christmas Classic and personal favorite, A Christmas Story. If you are unfamiliar, tune into TBS anytime from 8pm tonight until 8pm tomorrow as it airs back-to-back.
If you managed to get through dinner without encouraging the crazy aunt until she confesses to kissing the patriarch, or the out to everyone but mom-n-dad relation throwing a turkey in the deserving lap of a constantly viscous judgmentally superior sibling than you probably did OK.
I’m a little melancholy this Thanksgiving. My mom had a hip replaced a few weeks ago and aside from the time in hospital, this is the first time I’ve ever seen her as anything less than a force of nature. But today she was in pajamas with a cane at Thanksgiving as we ate pizza. Mom has always hated cooking the whole turkey-n-stuffing combo (she’s more of a holiday ham gal) so deep down she probably see’s this as a “get out of Thanksgiving free” card but was still distressing to see her so frail and not up to the task of a holiday dinner. Dad made it sound like she WANTED pizza, but I think he was just too lazy to find us a good alternative - I’ll take over if she’s still not reay by Christmas. According to Dad, she’s really making good progress tho. :). So, I’m just trying to be supportive and help her with anything Dad might not foresee - he is typical of the unconscious straight guy on many levels - lets just say, although he DOES care for her deeply - (she’s his world) but he’s not always hella empathic.
For some reason the extremely dysfunctional ensemble cast of Home For the Holidays chears me up a bit - call it schadenfreude…
P.S. Although the drama is entertaining, I hope your own personal Thanksgivings went off without an emotional hitch. Happy Thanksgiving form Fanboi at HeroesNHunks!
I came out to my own parents quite late, as I was chicken, the only child, adopted AND they’re from a different generation (mid-70s now). But they’ve been surprisingly cool and supportive to a point. I’ve mentioned my boyfriend (whom you may remember as popapathy) numerous times over the past year, they always ask after him and say nice things about being happy for me etc, yet they have yet to ask to meet him. I’ve decided once Mom is well enough to get herself downtown for lunch again, she’s well enough to meet him. Now I just have to get her and him on board.
I though of this feature after a friend of mine told me that a straight mutual friend of ours was checking out my blog at work to read about the protests and got caught with gay smut onscreen by some co-workers. Sorry about that dude. Have them read this - I can attest that you are as straight as you are likely to be late to your own party (which is quite likely if you know him).
I can’t change the past and undo you gettin busted, but I AM implementing Safe For Work (SFW) and Not Safe For Work (NSFW) tags on ALL posts past present and future. I want ALL my geek friends to feel comfortable on this site.
I’ve added tags to all 837 posts I’ve published since I launched the blog. So if you want to read HeroesNHunks sans penetration and penises (as straight fanboys or gay guys at work may prefer), bookmark heroesnhunks.com/wordpress/tag/sfw.
If you will want to go back later on in the privacy of your own home to see what kind of juicy pornography I’ve been posting without reading all that pesky politics and comic book previews… then the new heroesnhunks.com/wordpress/tag/nsfw link is your cup of tea. It includes ALL gay porn video clips and previews, action stills and XXX pornstar galleries. So don’t go there unless you are all about the cock.
Be back soon, I promise. I hate spyware. Anyone have a suggestion on the best solution? Desktop warning says I need to get rid of the following, but my McAfee doesn’t see them during its scan.
I know people don’t always feel that the random though in their head is worth sharing as a comment (it is by the way), so I decided to try adding some random reader polls. Right below the 5 highest rated (the stars below the articles are for you to rate stuff) articles you will now find a random reader poll. I only have 4 polls rotating now, but I’ll add more. If you have an idea for a poll, click on the comment link and share it… I want to show what people want to see, but I only know what ya like if you say something or click on the polls…
Yeah YOU! the one sitting in front of the computer reading a blog on comic books and gay porn. Who else would I be talking to? See where it says comments under this post? Why don’t you click there and tell me what you loved this week?
I’ve added a RSS newsfeed widget under the blogroll. The Gay and Lesbian news is from the San Francisco Chronicle and the Comic Book News is from Comic Book Resources. I’m still looking for a good porn RSS feed (that works with Wordpress - tried a few that didn’t) if anyone has any recommendations.
Since HeroesNHunks has been viewed in over 70 countries, I decided to look into translation widgets. To the right you’ll now notice a number of itty bitty flags. Just click a flag to translate!
The rating system (blue stars) are fairly new as well. Please rate posts from 1 to 5 stars so I know what you like.
Was a bit busy today. I’m working on ads for a new weekly event starting at the Lookout in San Francisco. ACTIVATE! (a pxlforge logo design) launches Pride Friday, June 21st 2008! It IS a superhero themed Pride party so expect deuling DJ’s, hot gogo boys and high profile guest stars decked out and dancing.
Illustrations all begin on paper. I first come up with a pose I like and once I’ve finished a basic version of the figure, I break out the vellum and design the clothes on a new layer so I can doodle all over it as I brainstorm. After The costume overlay is finished, then I draw the costume on my figure and ink it before scanning the image and coloring the file in Photoshop with dozens of multiplied layers over the black and white artwork.
I just installed a new plugin that let you see any image links superimposed over the current Page!!!! No more extraneous back button usage! I’m always looking for ways to make this blog more user friendly so PLEASE offer any suggestions that come to mind.
