The Evil League of Evil wants you!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The Dr. Horrible panel convened Friday at San Diego Comic Con. Leading the panel was “Dr. Horrible” creator Joss Whedon. Joss was joined onstage by cast members Neil Patrick Harris (Dr. Horrible), Felicia Day (Penny), Nathan Fillion (Captain Hammer) and Simon Helberg (Moist) as well as his co-writers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Zack Whedon.

Dr. Horrible\'s Sing Along Blog

There were a number of interesting factoids and DVD special features ideas tossed around, but the most interesting reveal was that Joss and company are accepting 3-minute video submissions for the Evil League of Evil and the top 10 entries will be featured on the DVD (just 10 - like they don’t have room?).

the Evil LEague of Evil

So dig your evilest outfit out of that old closet at the back of your secret lair and make a video showing the Evil League of Evil - Professor Normal, Fake Thomas Jefferson, Tie-Die, Dead Bowie, Fury Leika, Snake Bite, and of course, Bad Horse - the Thoroughbred of Sin just how EVIL you really are!

Also note I updated the embedded videos for Act’s I, II and III in the article about the launch of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog. So watch it again and sing along! It really is even catchier on the second and third viewings.

  • Grant Morrison Explains It All… Final Crisis #2

    Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Newsarama recently talked with Grant Morrison about the 2nd issue of DC’s Summer blockbuster series Final Crisis. A similar interview about Issue #1 really explained a lot of the more subtle elements of a VERY complicated story so i though I’d share highlights from this similar commentary of Issue #2.

read the interview to hear Grant talk about…

Big Science Action, the Super Young Team, Superman Beyond, New Earth morale, New Gods reborn, Requiem, super villain’s cars, and the End of the World as we know it, Wonder Woman vs Mary Marvel, Metron the god of science’s unforeseen nature, where Barry Allen’s been, .and Carlos Pacheco stepping in to assist artist J.G Jones as of issue #4…

  • Chuck Dixon no longer employed by DC Comics in any capacity

    Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Batman and the Outsiders writer Chuck Dixon declared on his official forum June 10, that he was no longer employed by DC Comics in any capacity.

To quote Ross from Friends… “FINE BY ME!!!”, since I never read Robin (Dixon write the 1991 Robin miniseries as well as 9 years of the subsequent ongoing title) or Nightwing (only peripheral Bat title I read is Birds of Prey) and didn’t like his inconsistent Outsiders anyway.

I just don’t see a black op run by Batman going as SNAFU as the missions in this title. Also Rex Mason DOESN’T need to breathe. Dixon’s treatment of Thunder and Grace as a couple has been poor at best. The only thing I loved was the Dibney’s as a duo of Deadmanesque ghosts. But we haven’t seen them since. I’d like to see them get their own book.

Most online buzz seems to suggest he was unhappy interrupting his own story arcs for Grant Morrison’s Batman R.I.P. because Morrison kept changing the timetable of events in his story. Since his “terse statement” came just one day after DC’s Monday announcement that Frank Tieri will be writing the R.I.P. tie in issues of Batman and the Outsiders (#11-12), I’d say where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

I’ll watch his site for more news.

Newsarama has a GREAT interview with Final Crisis writer Grant Morrison. He discusses the New Gods interference in human history and evolution in the DCU, why Turpin, Countdown continuity, Dr. Lights comeuppance, what he meant by “Twilight of the Gods,” where AND when Darkseid went when he “fell,” the concept of Gods in general, what Anthro’s drawing and who the guy with the mohawk is - Nix Uotan the exiled Monitor - doh - should have figured that one. But it still doesn’t add up - OK if the Monitors have the ability to exile one of their own to a mortal existence, but who got Nix and apartment, furniture and a TV? He woke up as if he’s late for work. If they have THAT control over reality they should be able to take care of reality -hoppers with a file transfer. Also its looking definite that the DCU is definitely down one Martian.
