If you liked this, try these...I FINALLY found an embeddable version of the trailer for the animated Wonder Woman origin movie due out February 2008.
I have one problem with it… The line SOME HEROES ARE MADE, THIS ONE WAS BORN is factually incorrect. Diana WAS made. Her “mother” Hippolyta literally sculpted the infant Diana from clay and the Olympian Gods gave her life.

and some clips from everyone’s favorite over the top anchor partners.
As usual, Stan starts out on the ridiculously uninformed side *who wears assless chaps on a cruise to Mykonos? Everyone knows that Greece is too hot for that… a simple leather studded banana hammock is more de rigeur.
… Of course, Stan eventually comes around, in his own way.

If you liked this, try these...Here is a short pilot/teaser for the abandoned Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series. Development never got further than this short video because networks didn’t want to commit to a show that was too adult/violent for kids but not right for primetime either.
What about the Cartoon Network? Seems like a perfect fit.

If you liked this, try these...If you saw Batman: Gotham Knight, then you likely saw the exclusive sneak peek at DC Universe’s Wonder Woman on Disc 1. ComicsContinuum had some news about that movie and a few other animated gems planned from DC Animated. They mention a February release date at a to-be-announced convention and that Wonder Woman is an original story from Gail Simone and Michael Jelenic. The official site has also launched.

OK, just woke up from a nice 10 hour nap. I needed that. Did a quick check for items of interest… found the trailer for the new Iron Man cartoon. Jury is still out on the art style. I like my 3D to look 3D and my hand drawn animation to look hand drawn. But 3D with toonshder puts me off if its too obviously 3D.

If you liked this, try these...Queerty made another great find with “Dial M for Monkey: Barbequor,” a 1996 banned “backup” segment from Dexter’s Laboratory. The episode was removed from broadcast syndication after complaints (supposedly 1) were made about the “effeminate” parody of Silver Spooner. I usually get annoyed at stereotypical depictions of gay characters, but I admit the Silver Spooner cracked me up even more than the Galactus inspired “Barbequor.”

If you liked this, try these...I went to see Spike and Mike’s latest at The Victoria on 16th (in San Francisco). As usual there were definitely some sick and twisted cartoons (Rats on Cocaine in “Pregnant”) comes to mind. But I enjoyed the show. I’ve loved these animation festivals ever since I saw my first freshmen year at Boston University, so i always try to get there when i see on playing… Here is a preview of this years lineup.
Some sick and twisted videos from yesteryear (some may be officially “sick and twisted” from previous shows, some may not) after the jump…

The Adventures of Mark Twain is a stop motion animated film directed by Will Vinton (best known for “The California Raisins” animation). It was released in 1985 the UK as Comet Quest. The movie was supposedly inspired by the following Mark Twain quote…
“I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year (1910), and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: ‘Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.’”

Entertainment Weekly’s suggestions for summer reading…
Before you see Iron Man (out May 2), read Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle by David Michelinie and Bob Layton
I’m really excited to see this. I love the look of the armor and think Robert Downey Jr. is actually inspired casting, and Gwyneth looks great as redhead Pepper Potts!

One of my favorite animated clips of all time. From the JLU series finale, Destroyer. Superman shows everyone favorite Apokolyptian despot who’s boss. I would have liked to see a bit of this action in Countdown #1. But instead Supes sits on the sidelines to watch a family squabble.

If you liked this, try these...Although we have seen the last of the Legion of Super Heroes (I’m genuinely saddened and hope at least they put out a nice collection), those with the need for a steady DC universe cartoon fix needn’t give up all hope. The next DC cartoon to come down the path will be The Brave and The Bold, and just like the different DC titles by the same name, they will be TEAM UP stories! I’d guess most will be a Batman and… kind of a setup - but maybe they will mix it up like the recent George Perez drawn series.
Here is a bit of Legion art to say goodbye…

and a shot at the art style for the new show (Fridays on Cartoon Network). I’m not loving the look of it. I think , JLU, and Legion were stylized enough - this goes a bit too far.
