Zachary Quinto – Yep I’m Gay!

Zachary Quinto added his name to the list of “out and proud” gay actors today. Most known for his role as the sinister yet sexy Sylar (Heroes’ big bad) – and logical Mr. Spock in the Star Trek movie, Quinto also has a number of gay roles filling out his résumé.

In addition to his being cast of FX’s thrilling American Horror Story (opposite Teddy Sears, Torchwood’s Blue-eyed man) as one of the dead gay previous owners of the haunted house and headlining Angels of America for 8 months in 2010, Zachary Quinto was Tori Spelling’s sassy gay best friend Sasan in her hysterically self-deprecating 2006 sitcom… So noTORIous and a bisexual guinea-pig toting Real World member on an episode of “Off Centre (2001).” Clips from both can be found below.
Quinto says he chose NOW to come out because he feels a responsibility as a public figure. Following a rash of LGBT teen suicides last year, he contributed a video to the It Gets Better Project. The heartbreaking suicide of 14-year-old It Gets Better video-maker Jamey Rodemeyer hit the star (and many others) especially hard… as he explained on his blog.
In light of Jamey’s death,” he writes, “it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality.
I believe in the power of intention to change the landscape of our society, and it is my intention to live an authentic life of compassion and integrity and action,” he continues. “Jamey Rodemeyer’s life changed mine. And while his death only makes me wish that I had done this sooner, I am eternally grateful to him for being the catalyst for change within me. Now I can only hope to serve as the same catalyst for even one other person in this world.
I’m so glad to see Zachary out of the celluloid closet. I loved him before and love him even more for coming out. Though I must admit, I’m not the LEAST bit surprised. I always thought he was one of those actors who was probably out to family and friends but mostly under Hollywood radar. We’re very proud to include Mr. Quinto in our number and I think his It Get’s Better video will reach and inspire even more young people now.
So, who’s he dating?

OMG – his hair in the Off Centre clip is so bad.
Here’s some Sasan clips that you can actually hear – I like the montage – but the music is mixed too loud.
