X-Men: Pixie Strikes Back – Whose Her Daddy?
I like Pixie and was one of the few who didn’t mind when they unmanga’d her and stopped drawing her like an 11 year old. I’m glad to see more of her!
Pixie, X-23, Armor, Mercury and Blindfold face a new kind of hell: high school! Things get even worse when Pixie’s mother shows up on Utopia demanding to see her daughter. Discover the truth about Pixie, including the answer to something even SHE doesn’t know: the identity of her father – one of the most dangerous X-Villains ever!
For some reason I thought Blindfold wasn’t just blind, but in fact didn’t have eyes… Am I making that up or was she ever drawn that way?

I am eagerly wondering who Pixie’s father could be… any guesses people? The powers she had BEFORE Magik took part of her soul to make a “soul dagger” were flight (due to insect wings) and “pixie dust” which causes hallucinations. Not getting a clue from the wings, but hallucinations, hmmm, maybe Mesmero?

You’re right about Blindfold. She was born without eyes or eyelids. She was born with smooth patches of skin where her eyes should be. I don’t know if she was ever drawn this way in the comics but I know I saw a promo or something with her blindfold off and she was portrayed that way.

I’m guessing image inducers since Mercury isn’t shiny (which I’m pretty sure she can’t do) and Pixie’s wings are missing (which I’m less sure on, but don’t remember seeing)

you’re right about blindfold, and I noticed that too when I saw the preview:
Love the blog, btw.

@ Mike and Tsuzuki Thanks for confirming. I should have looked it up myself, but I was thinking it made it up. Glad I’m not crazy. I replaced links with the images.
Ruth’s probably just using an image inducer so as not to freak out the norms.
Always happy to hear people enjoy the blog! Thanks for commenting!
@ Askanipsion… aw why hate Pixie? too cute? don’t like the way they made her instant teen? Just curious. I had no opinion of her way back in New X-Men until Magik stole part of her soul and taught her magic. But I’ve really liked what they’ve been doing with her since. Kitty Pryde can’t be the X-Men’s little sister forever. She’s coming back and is all grown up now. I think Megan’s stepping up to the role nicely. We can only hope that like Kitty, she’ll try a few names and go for something less cute.

I’ve been looking thru the list of x-foes for some possible bad daddies for Pixie… they DID say one of the most dangerous foes so I’m taking them at their word.
If you are thinking about magical potential there’s Kulan Gath, Belasco or The Adversary
if you focus on the hallucinatory aspect of her pre-magical abilities… Mastermind? (already established he got around).
for some reason I keep thinking of a few reality altering baddies too… Colossus’ older bro – Mikhail Rasputin, Jamie Bradock or Proteus.
I have no thoughts on the insect wings…

@Fanboi I find her very annoying….hate that she has a soulknife….for awhile it was annoying cause Pixie could do everything in Uncanny…..plus suddenly she had double D breasts….dunno I hate little girl “sidekicks”….never like Jubilee either….Pixie reminds me too much of a Rainbow Brite character….I think Armor is cooler
02/08/2010 at 4:54 am
I get that, but usually don’t felt that way myself (though I kinda hated Jubilee too – that damn Robin outfit). I started on comics with back-issues X-Men during the introduction of Kitty Pryde and then started DC with the Teen Titans, So even though I generally detest things that are overly cute, kid sidekicks speak to me on a beloved nostalgic level.

@Fanboi….hmm thing is I am a HUGE fan of Donna Troy & Arsenal…..I just don’t like the X-Sidekicks I guess….I don’t even like when Kitty hung around with Wolverine….I didn’t like Kitty until she started hanging around with Illyana and Rachel and they created that strong friendship bond with each other….I loved Kitty in Excalibur….
I think the MAIN reason I don’t like Pixie is she was so smashed into our face when she first appeared….she was saving the X-Men themselves which kinda annoyed me

I’m guessing Blindfold has eyes in this preview because it’s probably some kind of hallucination or dream sequence or something.
02/08/2010 at 10:14 pm
I’m basing my guess on that last page of the preview, where all the girls except Blindfold see themselves as they really are in the mirror. Plus on that same page Blindfold says there is something in her eye, perhaps indicating that someone or something has interfered with her psychic abilities in order to keep the girls in the dark about their predicament.

I’m sticking with my image inducer theory. Its the X-Men’s go-to answer for why mutants can look like ordinary folks.

Either way, based on the cute preview, it looks like I might be bending my “No $4 Marvel comics” rule to buy this miniseries. I loved Kathryn Immonen’s Hellcat miniseries and this preview looks like exactly the kind of thing I’ve been craving ever since Pixie, Armor and X-23 were shown to be roommates back in Uncanny X-Men #505!

Someone at my comic chat suggested Black Tom Cassidy as possible daddy… Hope not.

yeah Black Tom is is who most people think it will be
