Okay, wow. I’ve been meaning to pick up backissues of X-Factor just to see how Shatterstar and Rictor’s paring was going…but this I have to say is unexpected. Shatterstars’ almost aspbergersesqe frankness about sexuality is interesting, and Rictor’s feelings…seem entirely familar to me personally. I think this is a very nuanced, very valid conversation to be having..and you’re right, a pretty suprising one to be having in a comic book medium. Brave new world even.

Kurt and I don’t have tons in common, liking singing and boys being pretty much it, but I DO think he’s neither stereotypical nor annoying. While I think a yonger version of me would have rolled my eyes at his queeniness, there’s something to be said about a teenage character that is comes to accept himself, then completley own himself in the course of a season. He might be a musical theatre loving diva, but on the whole, his being something of a fey stage cliche makes perfect sense. That, and the way they’ve developed the character has been refreshing in the matter of fact way it was handled amongst his peers (the person with the biggest problem accepting himself at first, was himself). We’re not desperate to see one more gay on tv as much as we are to see one more gay on tv that gets equal stage time and not treated like a simple comedy gag. Kurt’s episodes and relationship with his father completley changed my opinion about both the character and his role in the show. Pretty huge fan now.
  • Rawhide Kid & The (Fabulously) Sensational Seven #1
Actually, I loved it way more than I expected. Rawhide is particularly comfortable with himself, his tastes, and despite living in a world thats rather…unrefined, owns himself. And for the record, comes off as quite the badass beyond the fawning, and occasional tounge in cheek fey behavior. Calling in the Ghost Rider? (Pretty Badass). I’m sold on this.
  • Where are the Gay Geeks At? Sound Off!
Oh,and I live in Pennsylvania between New York City and Philly. I’m pretty sure it’s easier to find gay geeks in the Metro areas…but I’m not sure where I’d look.

I’m about the geekiest gay guy I know. Wish that was different, as generally, I’d love nothing more than a gay geek pub/world takeover….
  • Titans: Villains for Hire – B&W unlettered Preview
I have no real understanding why…but I like Cheshire too. Or at least I do more than alot of DC villans. Has she…reacted to the death of her daughter yet? I haven’t read DC seriously in years…but it might be worth the payoff characterwise to watch this.
