Meet the latest Technicolor Lanterns on the block…
If you haven’t read Blackest Night #6 STOP WHERE YOU ARE AND DO NOT CLICK ON THE SPOILERIFIC IMAGES BELOW. Stand up, and go to a comic store, buy it, read it, then come back here and we’ll dish.
If you HAVE read it, then by all means take a look and then be sure to leave a comment telling me what you think. My own thoughts, more spoiler details (and another teaser image!) are available in the rest of this entry…
From Left to right: Indigo Lantern Atom (compassion), Blue Lantern Flash (hope), Red Lantern Mera (rage), Orange Lantern Luthor (avarice), Yellow Lantern Scarecrow (fear), Green Lantern Hal Jordan (will) and last but far from least is Star Sapphire Wonder Woman (love)!
I would have loved to see Green Lantern’s ring send out a deputy ring that freed Superman the same way Wonder Woman’s connection to her black ring was severed. I think Superman would be a shoe-in for a Blue or Green ring. Important question… Can the new deputies of these New Guardians (I think DC wants to froget there was ever an original New Guardians) deputize others in the same way? If that is the case then that cosmic throng of Lanterns may have something to worry about. It would also be a nice way to bring a few more Black Lanterns back into the fold… (Red Lantern Hawkman? Star Sapphire Hawkgirl? etc.) Too bad Halo fried Black Lantern Terra… Few in the DCU have more rage and hate than little Tara Markov. A red ring would suit her.
Who else in the DCU might be especially suited to a particular hue of ring?

Hmmmm, Terra was dead dead, as in reanimated. Not sure her connection could have been supplanted by a rainbow ring like it was with Wonder Woman.
Boy, do I hate the new Star Sapphire costume, and boy, do I hate it coupled with the Wonder Woman costume.
Was Mera really rage-filled though?

I do think you are right that the Star Sapphire ring only worked on Wondy because she was a special kind of dead, but I just love the idea of a Red Lantern Terra for some reason.
I can totally see Mera as rage filled… and she isn’t mad at Black Lantern Princess Diana. Her son was killed by her brother in law, now her husband is dead, Tula is dead, Tempest is dead, Dolphin is dead. She’s the only member of the Aqua family left and now the corpses of her loved ones are running around turning others. I’d be pissed too.

all I got to say about this crossover is that if Omen/Lilith does NOT come back from the dead and stay alive, then I will be one PISSED OFF person…..honestly I know people love this crossover but except for the Titans appearances, I just don’t care….I am so burned out on non-stop crossover after crossover from both Marvel and DC

I get being tired of epic event after epic event… But after Final Crisis (which sucked) I’m just happy to see DC still knows how to do an event. Infinite Crisis was OK but 52/Countdown/Trinity were a waste of time, ink and paper. So I have to say Blackest Night is my favorite DC crossover event since the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. I can’t wait to see what if any changes it will bring about in the DCU.

Blackest Night is loads of fun. Upon further reading, I was a little pissed off that Wonder Woman got a ring – Batman and Superman won’t need a super power from another hero to defeat this villain, so why does Wonder Woman? Is it because Geoff Johns, like Morrison in Final Crisis, doesn’t know what to do with her?
