Taylor Lautner sure knows how to handle a staff!

Which is good, because from his monologue, New Moon’s hot wolf cub Taylor Lautner is not really a natural comedian. Though in his defense – this was NOT great material. Lautner’s football and show choir sketches were just unfunny. The Edward vs Jacob argument was amusing.

The funniest sketches were unfortunately Lautnerless… the PGA Tour’s new No Tiger No Problem campaign makes me laugh just thinking about it… and Weekend Update had its moments as usual (with the exception of the painfully long reservation stand up bit – ouch). I think SNL should have a limit of just 1 sketch per show about laughing at someone performing badly.
I saw New Moon the other day. Urge to see his bod and the FX won out. It was a good popcorn movie and perhaps a better movie than a book as it seemed to spend a lot less time focusing on Bella’s angsty emo misery. I could have used more wolf pack time. We’ll see more of him in the next 2 movies which I’m sure they’ll push out at top speed to get them in theatres while people are still interested.

I thought this was one of the better SNLs this season. Granted, it’s been a horrible season. There are so many absurd items in the news, in theaters and on television and SNL seems stale and blind to the opportunities for humor.
But I thought Taylor Lautner gave it his all, he was really cute and seemed really gay. That’s no put down. I’m really gay! If he weren’t so cute, I’d probably be much more critical.

I was worried that, as a non-actor (who are we kidding), he’d trip-up his monologue and the whole thing would be awkward, but he did that part pretty well, with a staff!! He brought lots of energy to the show!!
