I’m not sure if Fantastic Four’s switch back to old numbering for issue #500 was the first but I’m glad to see the big numbers too. I don’t think that much history should be ignored just for the sake of selling some extra #1 issues that people leave in bags and boards. Very happy that titles like Wonder Woman, X-Factor, Thor and even Thunderbolts followed suit. Part of me is hoping that once the Marvel U is whole again after Norman Osborn is defeated, the New and Mighty Avengers titles will consolidate into a New Avengers – Earth’s Mightiest Heroes title with the old numbers. I can dream can’t I?

This seems to be the trend now. It used to be a new number one was the thing to do. Now everyone is going for the big numbers. I’m trying to remember who was the first to do it. Fantastic Four?
