Since she first appeared in the pages of Astonishing X-Men, S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department) Agent Abigail Brand is the most interesting green haired woman in the marvel Universe (Sorry Polaris).

Will the arrival of her boyfriend, X-Man Beast, help her out? Not when she discovers Gyrich’s plan for fixing S.W.O.R.D. is to rid Earth of ALL ALIENS! Brought to you by Kieron Gillen (DARK AVENGERS: ARES), Steven Sanders (Five Fists of Science) and topped off with covers by ASTONISHING X-MEN artist JOHN CASSADAY!

Brand is less than pleased about being forced to share her leadership post with former Avengers-liaison and notorious government weasel Henry Peter Gyrich. All this plus Lockheed on a drunken bender?

    looks fun

  2. I do like this idea of a drunk Lockheed and Brand is a bit more interesting than Lady Viper, Polaris, and all the other green haired characters coming to mind, but I just don’t quite get this series. Is it meant to be an ongoing? Since it is interesting territory, but it’s going to be undermined by any time comics need to have some sort of mysterious alien invasion. And there have been and seems like there will be many more.

  3. It is supposed to be an ongoing – hopefully it doesn’t succumb to early cancellation like Captain Britain and Agents of Atlas. The first issue also has a back-up story concerning a certain giant bullet hurtling through space.

  4. Oh, that’s actually handy information. Is it going to be a running backup strip like Agents o’ Atlas in Hercules or is it just going to be in the first issue like Tim Gunn as Iron Man? (Seriously, if Marvel had just released that instead as the lead or had it in every issue I actually would have bought Models Inc.)

I mean I can’t imagine them actually advance the plot that much more than have the bullet’s passenger monologuing for however many pages since that character can’t possibly be returned this early and unceremoniously but my curiosity is piqued.

And I dug Wisdom but I had so much trouble remembering the name of the MI-13 series. Did they even wait for it to come out in trade before canceling it?

Not sure if it’s going to be a running back up, but it DOES let us know what’s up with Kitty. S.W.O.R.D. has the tech to keep tabs on her, but it remains to be seen if Kieron Gillen has what it takes to write her out of this mess.
