I’m Holding out for the Seeker

I’ve never watched this series. I saw the movie back in 2007 and it was a cheesy fantasy family film, so when a series started, I didn’t pay much attention. But if this is what star Craig Horner looks like in action I may have to start checking it out.

Anyone watch it? I figured it was a Hercules/Xena level production (which doesn’t necessarily mean its unwatchable) Is he shirtless a lot? Are the FX decent?.

  1. I caught like half an episode once and I didn’t even know what it was until now. I remember thinking the lead actor was hot but I don’t remember if he, or any of the other actors, were any good or not. But just judging from the video, it looks like he’s shirtless (or close enough) quite a bit and the FX seems pretty decent.

  2. I go through maybe ten minutes of an episode before switching it off. Just kinda boring. The ad makes it look much more gay porny than it is. :)

  3. There’s actually no relation between the series and that film. The series is based on “The Sword of Truth” books by Terry Goodkind.

I actually like the series. I’ve watched what’s out so far and I and a few of my straight friends all enjoyed it, for different reasons, but still. ;)

Craig has a shirtless scene about ever 3rd episode. The FX are actually pretty good. I’d say that if you enjoyed the Hercules & Xena series, you’ll definitely enjoy this. Even if you didn’t, give it a shot. It’s more serious than those series were while still having a sense of humor about itself. (And a small FX budget goes a lot further now than it did then.)

Watch the pilot (2h); it sets up the premise for the whole show. The rest are mostly one-shots with an overall story-arc that gets furthered a little every episode and resolved in the last few episodes of the end of the season. If you like the pilot, you’ll most probably enjoy the series.

As a bonus, the series has actually acknowledged that gay people exist! Sure, it was used for a one-episode gag, but nothing offensive (to me at least). Even that is more than we ever got from a lot of other genre shows. (Yes, I’m looking at you, Star Trek.)

    Happy watching.

That makes more sense, I wondered about the age difference but figured the show was about the boy as a young man because it sells better.

  5. That guy’s body is insane, but that show is still pretty unwatchable.

This is kind of the vibe I got from the ads. I always found Hercules and Xena a bit Cheezy… not all that far off from MadTV’s genre parody… Prehistoric Glamazon Huntresses A.D.

PS: I simply LOVE that default size for YouTube embed fits PERFECTLY in comments – lets see some on topic videos from y’all.

  7. I watch the show whenever I can catch it. It’s a fun show, he’s sexy and it’s a fun show. Don’t ask to explain the details of the world they live in, I don’t pay that much attention…

  8. It wasn’t the best show in the world and it certainly wasn’t Cleopatra 2525 either.

My partner read all the books and finds the show enjoyable. I watched all of season 1 with him and don’t wish I had that time back or anything.
