If you want to help – I’m looking for images of the following LGBT characters… Toby Raines (lesbian Metropolis reporter and former partner of Maggie Sawyer), Melissa Maro (lesbian friend of Ghost Rider), Rita Boyd and Valerie Susan Page (V for Vendetta – not sure if they were seen or just in the letter), Lee and Li (lesbian friends of Green Lantern Kyle Raynor), Panthalessa (mermaid lover of Jack Phantom) and the gay brother of 80’s era Wonder Woman publicist Mindy Mayer (his name is?). This gallery collection would not be possible without the hard work of sites dedicated to the subject of LGBT characters in comics like TheGayLeague, PinkKryptonite and PerryMoore’s LGBT list

I started gathering these images to update my original post about Gays in Comics, but it snowballed way beyond my ability to control. My original list of 20 has grown to 104 168 LGBT super heroes, villains and supporting characters. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more complete index. Click each image to see fullsize and read a brief summary.

PLEASE SHARE AND LINK TO THIS POST. I put a lot of work into tracking down these names, histories and images. They range from popular new gay characters, to old characters later outed, fallen gay characters, almost gay characters and of course the supporting gay characters. Northstar was NOT the first openly gay superhero at a major publisher. He was the first at Marvel and the first cool one, but he was preceded by the embarrassing el Extraño – a stereotypical flamboyant gay version of Dr Strange introduced and forgotten with DC’s 1988 series The New Guardians. Whoever came first, These pioneering characters really made it possible for new LGBT characters to be woven into the story as more than victim or villain.

The characters immediately following are creations conceived as LGBT by their originators or at least VERY SOON after creation. Some of these have become a popular part of continuity and others ended up exiled in limbo where they will remain until another writer decides to use them or kill them.

Daken (Akihiro) is the bisexual antihero/villain son of Wolverine. He is over 60, but his inherited healing factor keeps him young like his father. He also has some sore of pheromone ability that bends people to his will Graymalkin - Jonas Graymalkin is a gay mutant with great strength and invulnerability but only in complete darkness - that's useful Anole - Victor Borkowski is a reptilian member of the X-Men who usually gets his ass kicked due to his fear of losing and regrowing another limb Batwoman - the woman introduced to dispel gay rumor around Batman has been re-imagined as tuxedo wearing, lipstick lesbian socialite Kathy Kane. She is also the cousin of Bette Kane a.k.a. Bat-Girl a.k.a. Flamebird.
The Question - lesbian ex police detective Renee Montoya became the new Question during 52 Hulkling - founding Young Avenger Teddy Altman is the gay half-Skrull/half-Kree son of Captain Marvel and Princess Anelle and boyfriend of Wiccan Wiccan - founding Young Avenger Billy Kaplan is the gay son of the Scarlet Witch, boyfriend of Hulkling and twin brother of Thomas Shepard a.k.a. Speed Scandal - lesbian daughter of evil immortal Vandal Savage and a member of the Secret Six. Still in morning for her dead lover Knockout.
Karolina Dean - lesbian daughter of alien super criminals - lover of the runaway super-skrull Xavin Phyla-vell a.k.a. Midnighter a.k.a. Lucas Trent is a badass gay Batman-like hero from the Authority - partner of Apollo Apollo - gay Superman-like hero from the Authority - partner of The Midnighter Holly Robinson - lesbian ally and sidekick to catwoman who took up the mantle of the cat while Selina retired when Helena was born. Bling - Roxanne "Roxy" Washington is a lesbian or bisexual student of the X-Men and unfortunately for her, a potentially an endless all-you-can-eat meal for Emplate
Lord Fanny - born biologically male, Hilde Morales was raised a a girl because he came from a line of witches and witches were women. She is a trans gender shaman and former Brazilian prostitute from The Invisibles Swift - Shen Li-Min is a bisexual Tibetan Buddhist member of The Authority. She was briefly romantically linked with Jenny Sparks. Amazon a.k.a. Man-Killer - lesbian former villain Katrina Luisa Van Horn showed signs of heroism during a stint with the Thunderbolts Machinesmith - Samuel Starr/Saxon was a gay supervillain who transferred his consciousness to a cyborg and later upgraded into a powerful cybernetic entity

Aruna - shapeshifter from India whose abilities manifested in infancy, leaving her with no true gender identity Blitzen - Valerie Kameya is a superhumanly fast Japanese biochemist who is in a lesbian marriage with Donner, member of the Shadow Cabinet and Heroes Donner - Gerri Brauer is the superhumanly strong and injury-resistant grandaughter of a Nazi Geneticist. She is in a lesbian marriage with Blitzen. Fade - Carlos Quinones Jr is the deeply closeted gay member of Blood Syndicate. He can fly and intangibility is almost a natural state for him. He apparently will eventually share some of his sister Flashback's time traveling powers (if anyone ever uses him again now that DC has absorbed the Milestone Universe).
Tefé Holland - is the bisexual Earth Elemental daughter of the Swamp Thing. She was conceived when the Swamp thing possessed John Constantine and impregnated Abby Holland. Because Constantine had Negral's blood in his veins at the time, Tefé is part demon. Gear - Rick Stone was a gay character in the Static comic book. The character of Richard "Ritchie" Foley (who eventually became Gear) in the cartoon was based upon Rick and was also meant to be gay. Jennifer Kale is a bisexual sorceress who has enough mystical power and experience that she was on the short list of candidates for the position of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme Grendel - Susan Veraghen was a lesbian who took up the mantle of Grendel in a dystopian future.
Willow Rosenberg - Lesbian member of Buffy's "Scooby Gang" who grew into a powerful witch. Her first female lover was Tara Maclay and she is currently involved with the slayer Kennedy Tara Maclay met Willow Rosenberg their first year of college and became lesbian lovers while bonding over similar mystical abilities. She was shot and killed by Warren Mears in an attempt on Buffy's life (prompting WIllow to FLAY him) Kennedy was one of the oldest of the activated slayers that showed up in Sunnydale towards the end. She is a lesbian and is involved with Willow Rosenberg Satsu is one of the activated slayers. Buffy Summers had a lesbian fling with her in Buffy Season 8.
Manga Khan - Lord Magna is supervillain and an intergalactic trader. Originally known simply as Lord Manga, he had strong feelings for his male robot minion L-Ron and later returned to retrieve him. Flying Fox - Samantha Cronin is the lesbian daughter of a senator and a political aide who has no powers, but is an exceptional athlete and fighter. She patrols Astro City on her flying motorcycle. Sir Tristan - Knight of the Round Table Sir Tristan was reincarnated as a woman in Camelot 3000. He continued his fabled romance with a reincarnated Isolde (who was still female). Tarot - Witch of the Black Rose is a bisexual T and A heroine. She protects her family and her craft as the Swordmaiden of the Black Rose coven
Danny the Street is a sentient and sapient stretch of roadway with the ability to teleport and insinuate himself within a city's geography without causing any damage or disturbance. In spite of the fact that most streets are genderless, Danny is male and a transvestite. His sidewalks are lined with various hyper-masculine stores—gun shops and sporting goods, mostly—which are decorated with frilly pink curtains and lace. Devlin Waugh - a camp homosexual exorcist priest, employed by the future Vatican City, with medals in flower-arranging and Olympic high-diving, a bodybuilder’s physique and a cutting line in humour. His main motivation was simply to do “Anything to offset the dreadful ennui of it all!” Dr. Poison - the original Doctor Poison was Princess Maru who disguised her gender via a bulky hooded costume and mask. The current Dr. Poison is her granddaughter and is equally androgenous in her incarnation of the costume. Blithe - bisexual Earth-Born Angel of Light and lover of the super-transexual centaur Comet (a.k.a. lesbian stand-up comedienne Andy Jones)
Rebis - composite hermaphrodidic entity - created when Larry Trainor's Negative Spirit revealed itself to be amoral, intelligent, and capable of speech and forcefully merged itself simultaneously with Trainor (a white man) and his physician, Dr. Eleanor Poole (a black woman). Jack Phantom - Sergeant Jackie Kowalski is a lesbian Sergent on the Neopolis Police Force. She has teh ability to besome intangible. Romantically involved with the mermaid mermaid Panthalassa. Legs Weaver - Rebecca Weaver is the lesbian (or bisexual - she has history with men but later seems to identify as lesbian) PI protagonist of an italian sci-fi comic book set in the futuristic Nathan Never universe. Masquerade is the female shapeshifter member of the Blood Syndicate who adventures in the form of an African American male. She betraued the group twice - first by stealing from them and later by pretending to be their dead leader/founder ressurected.
Desire of the Endless - the strikingly beautiful 3rd youngest (and cruelest) of a dysfunctional family of seven siblings that embody powerful forces or aspects of the universe. Twin of Despair. Desire's gender shifts to become male female or neither as the situation warrants. Desire smells of summer peaches and is as fickle as the emotion he/she personifies. Sebastian O is a young flamboyant assasin in a steampunk, alternate history, technologically advanced Victorian era London who was locked up for offending Victorian sensabilities with his moral crimes and transgressive literature. Later tracks down the friend who turned him in. Batwing - gay mutant from the future who seeks revenge on Charlie-27 (of the original Guardians of the Galaxy) for killing his lover Rhodney. Rhodney - is a gay mutant from the future who was killed by Charlie-27 (of the original Guardians of the Galaxy). Romantically involved with Batwing.
Purgatori - Born in Egypt around 1390 BC, Sakkara became a voluptuous, lesbian, crimson-skinned, vampire goddess with wings. Orlando - is an immortal warrior who swaps genders involuntarily as the years pass, Orlando is present at several important junctures of history, and a member of three incarnations of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - image is a custom created by joshuaizzo@yahoo.com (couldn't find scan from the comic - SEND ME ONE!!! Please? The Desert Peach - Oberst Manfred Pfirsich Marie Rommel is the fictitious homosexual younger brother of Erwin "The Desert Fox" Rommel Roger - originally male, Roger of the Five Swell Guys became female after an incident during an adventure in "Suffragette City." The general public seems unaware of the transformation, referring to the female Roger as "the new Roger."
Hypnota - A female stage magician who conceals her gender via masculine costume and false facial hair. She can mesmerize others with a glance. Cobweb - Laurel Lakeland is a thrill-seeking lesbian millionaire's heiress, who lives with her driver Clarice and fights crime to alleviate the boredom of the super-rich. Promethea - The alter ego of the current Promethea (Sophie Bangs) may or may not be lesbian (he best friend Stacia van de Veer bring it up a lot). Previous incarnations of Promethea include one whose alter ego was gay comic book writer and artist William Woolcott who was active as Promethea for 30 years until he was killed by her lover FBI Agnet Dennis Drucker when he discovered her true gender. Zsa Zsa Zaturnah - A cult hero from the Philippines, Zsa Zsa is a powerful and voluptuous female with large red hair and a muscular physique who has the alter ego of Ada, an effeminate male homosexual proprietor of a small town beauty salon who transforms when he ingests a spiky stone and says "Zaturnnah." Although she first appeared in a self published graphic novel in 2002, she has since spawned a hit musical that was stanged 6 times from 2006-2007 as well as a film adaption

Other characters to come out of the 4-color closet were pre-existing characters who sometimes had heterosexual romantic histories. Generally, noone seems to get too upset (or even notice) if the character is minor enough, but as evidenced by the mini-uproar that followed the ricshatty kiss, some fans and creators get more upset than others when their favorite forgotten character from the 80s says "Yep I’m Gay."

Shatterstar - recently outed former member of X-Force - currently a member of X-Factor and in love with Rictor Rictor (Julio Estaban "Ric" Richter) - recently outed former member of X-Force - currently a member of X-Factor and in love with Shatterstar Electro - after embracing the love that dare not speak its name in prison, Max Dillon now pays shapeshifter whores to have sex with him as Spider-Man Lightspeed - Julie Power was revealed or at least strongly hinted to be a lesbian in the Loners mini series
The Ultimate Universe version of Colossus is gay (but needs MGH to have the strength to move his heavy organic steel body. He is deeply in love with his reality's super speedster Northstar who was crippled after exposure a MGH overdose The Rawhide Kid - Johnny Bart was retconned as a stereotypical homosexual in the MAX 5-issue Slap Leather miniseries causing a bit of an uproar with longtime western fans Flatman - Val Ventura is a 2 dimensional gay human mutant Member of the Great Lakes Champions (2nd in command). Inspired to come out by Living Lightning mistaking the Great Lakes Avengers for a Gay Lesbian Alliance. Living Lightning - former West Coast Avenger Miguel Santos is an out and proud gay latino superhero. He is currently a member of the Texas Rangers (one of the 50 State Initiative teams)
Miracleman a.k.a. Marvelman - Micky Moran planted a kiss on cloned former sidekick Young Miracleman prompting a battle between the two in the last arc of the Eclipse comics series John Constantine - makes a reference in Hellblazer #51 about girlfriends and "the odd boyfriend" all have a nasty habit of walkiing out on him Inertia - created for a Squadron Suprme miniseries, Edith Freiberg was recast as a lesbian army private in Supreme Power Ice Maiden - Sigrid Nansen is a former Global Guardian, joined the JLI after Ice died and tried to seduce Fire
Obsidian - Todd Rice - gay son of golden Age Green lantern, invisible member of the JSA - good friend to Manhunter (Kate Spencer) Pied Piper - Hartley Rathaway is a gay former Flash rogue turned sometime superhero Mystique - Raven Darkholme is an amoral bisexual villainess, sometime enemy / sometime ally of the X-Men. She was longtime lover of Destiny a.k.a. Irene Adler. Moondragon - Heather Douglass - bisexual telepath - raped Thor - currently romantically linked with Phyla-vell

1602 Angel - Warren Worthington in the 1602 continuity (What IF the Marvel Universe was set in 1602) Angel was attracted to Jean Grey even though he had no idea she was a woman as she was masquerading as the boy "John Grey." The Black Cat - former Spidey sexpot Felicia Hardy was revealed as bisexual in Kevin Smith's Spider-Man/Black Cat The Evil that Men Do Buffy Summers had a lesbian fling with fellow slayer Satsu in Buffy Season 8 Miss Masque a.k.a. Masquerade - bisexual member of Sentinels of Justice and The Society of Modern American Science Heroes. She was one of the Nedor Comics public domain characters Alan Moore used to populate Terra Oscura, the alternate universe version of Tom Strong's Earth

Many of the Legion of Super Heroes have been hinted as gay only to have new creative staff change directions and kill planned storylines or completely reboot continuity. As of now, DC Comics has yet to officially "out" ANYONE in the 31st century. What? Are there no gays in the future? Is it like Iran? Hopefully that will be rectified in the new Legion tales in Adventure Comics.

Element Lad - Jan Arrah - Member of the Legion of Super Heroes - romantically involved with Shvaughn Erin, the Science Police's Legion liaison, who was later reveled to have been born male. When he reverts, Jan was unfazed. Shvaugn Erin - the Science Police's Legion liaison was born male and named Sean - but took a drug called Pro-Fem to become female to win Element Lad - when the drug ran out Element Lad told him "Look, it doesn't matter. Don't you understand ... ? Anything we ever shared physically ... it was in spite of the ProFem, not because of it" Lightning Lass - Ayla Ranzz was romantically linked to Shrinking Violet after they bonded over similar traumatic experiences - the relationship was erased following "Zero Hour" Shrinking Violet - Salu Digby was romantically linked to Lightning Lass after they bonded over similar traumatic experiences - the relationship was erased following "Zero Hour"
Brainiac 5 - hints were dropped during a particular rebooted version of Brainiac 5 written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning about a relationship between Lyle Norg and Brainy Invisible Kid - Lyle Norg has been hinted at being gay in a number of rebooted incarnations Chemical King - Condo Arlik has been romantically linked with Invisible Kid (Lyle Norg) in two different Legion incarnations Dawnstar - Now this is the most vague of all these near-outings - her inclusion here stems from references in the recent Lightning where a woman had her Legion ring and it was apparently implied she was Dawny's lover. But it started me thinking - her great love was Wildfire who has no body - when he got a body they tried to have a physical relationship - but it failed... hmmm

With the modern trend of killing characters wholesale, it’s no surprise that some LGBT heroes and villains can be counted among the casualties but we may be getting more than our 10%. Even though characters such as Northstar, Moondragon and Phyla-vell have died, I’ve listed them elsewhere due to recent resurrections, so this section is longer than it looks.

Tasmanian Devil: the most recent in a series of LGBT characacter to suffer a fate worse than death - he is now a trophy throw rug in front of Prometheus' fire star-crossed villainous gay lovers Monsieur Mallah and the Brain were both beaten to death at the hands of Gorilla Grodd Freedom Ring - gay teen hero Curtis Doyle was simultaneously impaled by dozens of spikes from the armor of the Iron Maniac after the ring bearing his reality-altering ring was sliced off Knockout - Scandal's lesbian lover and teammate, Kay died along with the rest of the New Gods
Anima - bisexual super-heroine critically injured in Titans East and then killed by Prometheus Jenny Sparks - the hard-drinking bisexual spirit of the 20th century - during her 100 year lifespan she influenced some of the most important historical figures of her time (Albert Einstein, Ernest Hemingway, Adolf Hitler, Jacques Cousteau, John Lennon, Princess Diana) Coagula - bisexual transsexual Kate Godwin has power to coagulate liquids and liquefy solids - killed when fellow teammate Dorothy Spinner exploded during a mental breakdown Xavin - taken off into interstellar space and supposedly executed - but you know comics - no body = not dead
Bloke - Mickey Tork was a gay San Francisco based mutant vigilante before he died on a mission with his incarnation of X-Force Phat a.k.a. William Robert "Billy-Bob" Reilly and Vivisector a.k.a. Myles Alfred were gay mutant lovers. They died with the rest of X-Statix in a series finale ambush (art by j.bone) Doop had no obvious physical sexual characteristics but was almost always referred to as male and had at least one affair with a male private detective named Mr. Chandler Sunfire II was an alternate universe version of Markio Yoshida - had a lesbian relationship with another universe's Mary Jane Watson who was that reality's Spider-Woman
Captain Stingaree - Karl Courtney was a gay Batman villain who was killed in a battle with the Secret Six - was in a secret relationship with the Cavalier Cavalier - Mortimer Drake was a gay Batman villain who was killed in a battle with the Secret Six - was in a secret gay relationship with Captain Stingaree Syonide - lesbian member of Strike Force Kobra - killed by the Eradicator - lover of Fauna Blarney Cock - part of the degenerate group Teenage Kix that was decimated by the Boys. Killed, ressurected and killed again when he came back for the gerbil that Hughie rescued from Blarney Cock's dead ass
circus strongman Rolf Müller was involved in a phony relationship with Sally Jupiter to hide his homosexual involvement with Captain Metropolis. He was into sadomasochism. Thought to have been murdered by the Comedian for interfering in the rape of Sally Jupiter Captain Metropolis - gay superhero from Watchmen's rich history. Supposedly involved with Hooded Justice. He was decapitated in a car accident in 1974. Silhouette - Ursula Zandt - resigned from the Minutemen after exposed as a lesbian - murdered with her lover in a hate crime months later. Destiny - Irene Adler died at the hands of David Haller in an era when heroes and villains didn't drop like flies

The characters on this list owe their very existence to those who blazed the trail…Madame Fatal was a retired actor turned cross-dressing hero and was first seen in Crack Comics #1 (May, 1940), a crime/detective anthology series published by Quality Comics. While Northstar WAS introduced in 1979, he didn’t ACTUALLY come out until a few years after DC introduced el Extraño in the New Guardians. Who ever was first, a few more have been added to history since then ( Union Jack II, The Mighty Destroyer) and the boys were soon joined by lesbians like Karma and Rainmaker.

Northstar - Jean Paul Beaubier was NOT the first openly gay superhero (but he WAS Marvel's first) Karma - was Marvel's first lesbian super-hero Rainmaker - Sarah Rainmaker is more of an example of a lesbian meant to titillate an adolescent audience - but she did help blaze the trail el Extraño - Gregorio De La Vega of DC Comics long forgotten New Guardians was an out gay superhero years before Northstar made his announcement. Northstar makes the better poster boy as Gregorio is a flamboyant stereotyped gay Dr. Strange
Starman III - bisexual Alien Mikaal Tomas from James Robinson's amazing Starman run Union Jack II - Brian Falsworth was the lover of The Destroyer The Destroyer - Roger Aubrey was the lover of Union Jack II Madame Fatal - in 1940's Crack Comics #1, Richard Stanton became the first cross-dressing hero. He donned a dress and wig and fought crime disguised as an old lady

And where would these super gays and gals be without their not so super friends and frenemies? We cannot forget the LGBT supporting castmembers like Terry Berg, Christian Frost, Maggie Sawyer Damon Matthews, Raymond Belmonde Frenchie DuChamp and even the SVU epidsde waiting to happen… Skip Westcott

Terry Berg - Green Lantern gay supporting character and designated gay bashing victim left in DC limbo with a Green lantern ring - He should be the new gay member of the Teen Titans - Kid Lantern Damon Matthews - boyfriend of Obsidian and gay best friend and assistant to Kate Spencer Tim Gunn - joins in the fun in the recent Models Inc series Frenchie duChamp - formerly closeted solider of fortune, pilot and ally to Marc Spector a.k.a. Moon Knight. Jean-Paul DuChamp is a double amputee

Hopey Glass - is the Sharp-tongued, wild and adventurous bass playing lesbian best friend (and occasional lover) of Maggie Chascarrillo in Love and Rockets. Maggie Chascarillo is the bisexual best friend (and occasionally occasional lover) of Hopey. She is heterosexual outside of her sometimes physical relationship with Hopey. The two met in the punk rock scene of their southern Californian home town. Maggie briefly becomes a world-travelling mechanic who goes on science-fiction flavored adventures in the early issues of Love and Rockets. Fey Truscott Sade - lesbian or bisexual (it is unclear) undercover British government operative from the late 1930s. She is companion to the Eighth Doctor from the Doctor Who comic strips. She appears only in the comics. Merged with Shayde to become Feyde. Romantically linked with Izzy Sinclair Izzy Sinclair - lesbian born on the latter 20th century Earth and constant companion to the Eighth Doctor appearing in all Doctor Who comic strips from 1996-2003. She appears only in the comics.
Mitch Sekofsky - is a supporting character who works at Belle Reve prison. He came out late in life and has an ex wife and at least 3 children. Argo Bones and Kimball Ritchards - Ago is an occult expert/writer in the world of Will Eisner's the Spirit and Kimball Richards is his boyfriend. Art by Darwyn Cooke and J.Bone. Olivia Reynolds - bisexual toy saleswoman who has had romantic liasons with Green Lantern and Icemaiden. Known as the "U-Mind," Reynold's mind sustained an entire alien race, the Lenglyns of Lengyl and can be used to control the Ergono power (a power similar to the Anti-Life Equation sought by Darkseid). Marlo Chandler Jones is the wife of Rick Jones. She had a lesbian relationship with Moondragon, but eventually returned to her husband.
Tyler Lang and Jefferson Wolfe - gay couple with AIDS who took up residence in an hospice run by longtime friend of the Hulk, Jim Wilson (Falcon's nephew). Tyler was the son of a crimelord who sent minions after Jefferson as revenge for infecting his son. Tyler was killed in the attack and the Hulk protected Jefferson from future attempts by putting the father away. Dr. Allison Mann is a lesbian geneticist from Y The Last Man Victoria Montesi - Italian -American lesbian descended from a line long ago designated as the guardians of the Darkhold, a tome of ancient black magic with the potential to summon the Elder God Chthon. She disbelieves the family calling and becomes a doctor in Rome, but eventually joins the Darkhold Redeemers in their quest to recover lost pages of the dangerous book and later discovers that she is the daughter of Chthon and is mystically impregnated with Chthon himself. She was rendered into a coma to prevent the birth and as far as I know she is still sleeping. Wanda Mann was born Alvin Mann in Kansas but reinvented himself as Wanda in NYC. He did not undergo gender reassignment surgery. Wanda was killed when a mystic storm hit her apartment building as a side effect of a spell cast by Thessaly.

    It was a lot of work (probably more than any other post on here) – but I just kept finding more and I probably still managed to leave someone off! I know Wonder Woman had a gay neighbor once a long time ago – but I couldn’t find his name or photo and I’m sure he’s not the only one. So if you know some obscure LGBT character and can help with an image you’ll get a shout out on what I hope becomes THE list of LGBT characters in comics.

    Yep. Happened earlier this year (March or April, I think) and after the attack they moved servers as well. They’re slowly adding the content they did have but I don’t like the way it’s set up. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of character listing to choose from like they used to have.

    I noticed that – They are using the same default wordpress theme I did for the first year, but they haven’t customized it at all. I could totally help them with that if anyone knows someone at GayLeague.

    I’m waaay to anal-retentive to use the default without adding my own touches. As for a character listing, they just need to make an index page like I did for Celebrity Beefcake and Legendary Studs of Yore etc. Its very easy.

    I really don’t know WHAT he is… FROM HIS WIKI PAGE: He is a green, floating spheroid creature of unknown origins who spoke in a "language" all his own. Doop was said to be the product of a Cold War era U.S. military who later served as the cameraman for the celebrity mutant superhero team X-Statix (formerly known as X-Force).

    I love the fact that you remembered X-Statix! That said I don’t remember the Phat and Vivisector picture. I can’t really tell but I know at least the majority of the art comes from official pin-up or panels. Did they actually beat Rictor and Shatterstar to the big gay Marvel kiss?

    And a minor quibble that Xavin from Runaways was written out but not necessarily killed off.

    Otherwise, impressive collection! Most of the dedicated sites for this sake seem to have lapsed a bit.

    The Phat and Vivisector picture is NOT official. It is by the artist j.bone and was too cute not to include. You are correct in saying most of these are – I found lots of them at comicvine and fan art seems to sneak in)

    Check out some the panels at the end of THIS POST about Anole and Graymalkin – Its from right after Jonas came out. First thing they do after the two become friends is have Anole get emotionally distracted during battle and get blasted. I could have sworn there was a shot of him getting blasted during the recent clash in San Francisco, but I can’t find it. Except for saving Pixie from Darkchylde he hasn’t had that many heroic moments. Also, He’s already had ONE arm ripped off and he was symmetrical in the future so the other one is going to go and grow back sometime too, despite his reluctance to let Rockslide rip it off.

    FYI – in case you didn’t know he was originally created to die – there was a planned story in Young X-Men about him committing suicide after being rejected by his parents after coming out on Parent’s Day. I DO like the character and think he has great potential – but I haven’t seen it used. IMHO He always ends up a a green background element.

    Hey there! Great update. I loved reading more about it. Cool. Wasn’t there a character who was guy from the Human Target mini series? It was a Vertigo/DC comic. I believe the main character had a friend who owned a resturant and was gay. I may have to research that. There was another short lived series from image (I think) where the main character was a female hitwoman and her best friend was called go-go and he was gay. I cannot remember the series. It was so campy and fun.

    I added him to the list of people that I’m hoping you readers can help me find images. Anyone know his name? Anyone? Bueller? Frye?

    I also think Wonder Woman had a gay neighbor at some point in a REALLY old story (pre-80s) – never came out and said he was gay but it was semi-obvious from the panel i saw. Of course I can’t find the panel or mention of him online and have no idea where I saw it.
