Secret Six #12 Depths (part 3) Inferno
Secret Six is definitely one of the best antihero books I’ve ever come across. The shining heroic glory of the DCU pantheon often overshadows the myriad of fascinating characters that oppose them. Writer Gail Simone has really given this title a wonderful insight into the depraved mind of a “villain.”
A crisis of conscience splits the Secret Six right down the middle and puts them on opposite sides of a horrific war involving Amazons led by a deluded Artemis!
Umm so Artemis ISN’T dead then? With her experience as a warrior, Diana should REALLY be a better judge of a corpse.
But that’s just the opening bout for the main event… for the icing on the cake, folks: Jeannette and Wonder Woman step into the ring for an all-out brawl
These bad boys (Catman, Deadshot and Bane) are looking as hot as ever – Thank you Nicola Scott for all the comic book beefcake you provide monthly. Keep up the equal opportunity objectification!

UPDATE: I’ve read it and there is a major reveal of something they’ve TOTALLY hinted at (so obviously now that I think about it that I cannot believe it didn’t occur to me before). I expose the truth after the jump so don’t comment or read the rest of this entry until you’ve read the issue!
So the mysterious Jeanette is really the Silver Banshee – DOH! How did I not see that coming? Mental flatulence? I don’t know – but it is obvious – silver haired 200+ year old woman who even SAYS she is a Banshee!!! I had actually pondered her DCU identity – figuring it was odd fir her to just go by a first name all the time, and yet it never crossed my mind. If she’d been named Siobhan I might have thought of her.
Well Silver Banshee does go toe to toe with Superman. so without knowing what she was up against, Wondy didn’t stand a chance. She should just be glad she’s still alive.

Just read through the full issue earlier. And this has to be hands down one of the most enjoyable books DC is putting out right now, definitely.
And, uh, really wouldn't object if they kept this as Catman's permanent costume.

Loving this book too. The first page alone was worth the price. Eye candy galore!

There are times I really hate waiting for the TBP's……..I loved Villains United and Six Degrees of Devastation….the Secret Six rock!
And it doesn't hurt that Catman is drawn insanely hot………

Loving the HOT Catman. I'm a little worried about Diana's characterization in this issue.
I'm not super familiar with Silver Banshee. I thought she had an origin which had nothing to do with the Countess Bathory…

Palliser's comment could have been mine… my mileage does NOT vary!

Is she -the- Silver Banshee, though? I kind of just assumed she was a Silver Banshee. Like, as opposed to reinventing the character, Gail Simone is just playing with the idea of being a supernatural phenomenon a la Vampirism.

I'm glad I'm not the only one asking that question

I never occurred to me that maybe all "banshees" look like that. Although I didn't get that impression, a recent addition to her wiki page backs you up…
"Jeannette transforms into a black and white being, very similar to the Silver Banshee."

I LOVED the reveal at the end. Pitting Wonder Woman, one of the big three, and having her taken down like that, it was epic. It's a refreshing change of pace seeing the boys be all shirtless while the girls are pretty clothed. Well, as clothed as Amazons get.

Love Scott. Love Simone. Love this book like there is no tomorrow. This book proves that when you take A-list talent and let them go to town on NEW FRESH ORIGINAL ideas, you CAN have a success.
All the Rebirths in the world couldn't top what Simone and Scott are giving us each and every week with this band of misfits.

And yes, it doesn't hurt that the book is beefcake a plenty. I'm still in awe of that Nightwing ass-shot we got a few issues back.

Ya we all expected Diana to kick Jeanette's ass. WOW SURPRISE THERE!

It does go to show you that you don't necessarily need an a-list team to tell a compelling story – maybe we should give THEM the JLA.

Which issue – I'll scan it if I can dig it up.

Nightwing's glorious butt shot was in #9, the Battle For The Cowl tie-in issue, which was also the exact moment when I became a Nightwing fan.
Is it just me or does anyone else find the sexual tension between Catman and Deadshot to be absolutely electric? (Or at least it used to be, before Jeannette came on the scene and started hogging all the Deadshot cock.) Going all the way back to that sexy kitchen scene in Villains United #2, you know the one. They should seriously just fuck and get it over with already. Or at least give us a nice gratuitous shower scene or something. Hell, they can even throw in Bane for good measure.
