X-Factor #44 – Selene?

It looks to me like the Black Queen is back. Selene graces the cover of X-Factor #44. But then again, I’ve been wrong before. Has Monet ever been known to wear a cape?

I’m loving Peter David’s writing and really looking forward to seeing what Selene is up to – so I hope it IS her.

UPDATE: Comments suggest that this isn’t Selene but Monet. It would be easier to tell if we had the dialog too. But I just don’t see any reason that Monet would come on to Darwin – ick. I COULD see Selene attempting to seduce him for her own purposes, but I also don’t see Selene in a tube top and mini-skirt either (for that manner I don’t see a total snob like Monet in that outfit either – if it’s her, maybe she’s being controlled?). I find this preview confusing.

Mark Valley IS The Human Target

With the help of his associates Guerrero (Jackie Earle HaleyWatchmen’s Rorschach) and Winston (Chi McBride), Christopher Chance (DILF and Gulf War Vet Mark Valley) is the human target, a private contractor hired to protect his clients from dangerous and imminent threats.

Those with a high TVQ might remember the 1992 TV adaption of the starring Rick Springfield as Christopher Chance. It only lasted 7 episodes, lets hope Mark can beat that.

Fantastic Force vs. The Harpy – PLUS Polaris, Dark Phoenix and the Scarlet Witch?

From the cover and the solicit, some versions (?) of Mavel’s most powerful female mutants are going to attack Nu-Earth. I thought it was odd when I first saw the cover and I think its even odder now reading the description of the issue.

He’s a descendant of the Hulk and the stepson of Wolverine—but now, Banner’s mother the Harpy has appeared from nowhere and is out to destroy the Fantastic Force! Alex Ultron, the 16th generation, has a shock when he realizes his brand new paradise is run on android slaves and telepath Natalie X finds out what’s really on Logan’s mind. Taking down the Harpy costs half of the Fantastic Force just as they face three of the most powerful women in history who are here to destroy Nu-Earth…and the new heroes who defend it!

If this is an artificial world than how and why did Polaris, Dark Phoenix and the Scarlet Witch get there? We know it can’t REALLY be them, but what’s the story – I’ll let ya know.

UPDATE: The Hysteries (Wanda, Jean and Lorna) have been wrenched from their own timelines at their maximum moment of betrayal and insanity, and summoned (by what or who?) to destroy Nu-World. The Fantastic Force are the only super heroes on this brave new planet to stand in their way.
