Norman Osborn (a.k.a. the Green Goblin) has not only single handedly destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D and replaced it with his own H.A.M.M.E.R., but even he could not tell you what it stands for. When asked, he told Victoria Hand to “get on that for him”. But she is slacking as I have seen no serious suggestions as of yet. Humorous interpretations of the acronym – yes (such as… Hateful Assholes Making Many Enemies Rapidly, Has A Mad Man Erroneously Ruling), but nothing you could sell to the President. SO I am putting it out there. What the fuck does H.A.M.M.E.R. stand for? SERIOUSLY!?

This is tougher than it looks! How about “Headquarters for Advanced Military Monitoring, Espionage and Response”
SHIELD is/was a branch of the military, wasn’t it? Even so, it was the U.S. Government that gave Norman the go ahead. In my book, that means military. (This is me justifying the use of “Military” in the acronym…)
