Electronic Frontier Foundation sues Bush, Cheney and NSA over illegal domestic wiretapping

On Thursday September 18th, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a lawsuit against the National Security Agency (NSA) and other government agencies today on behalf of AT&T customers to stop illegal, unconstitutional, and ongoing warrantless domestic surveillance. Also named in the suit are President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Cheney’s chief of staff David Addington, former Attorney General and White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales.

EEF is suing The NSA, George Bush and Dick Cheney for warrentless surveillance

Evidence in the case includes undisputed documents provided by former AT&T telecommunications technician Mark Klein showing AT&T has routed copies of Internet traffic to a secret room in San Francisco controlled by the NSA.

Another lawsuit filed by the EFF in 2006, Hepting v. AT&T, was derailed by a law passed by Congress earlier this year that unconstitutionally granted immunity to AT&T and other companies that took part in the surveillance. The EFF will likely be arguing over “whether the immunity is constitutional and applies in that case”

Synecdoche, New York

Charlie Kauffman, writer of such offbeat films as Being John Malkovich, Adaption, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is also directing his latest offbeat tale…

Theater director Caden Cotard’s life in Schenectady, New York is looking bleak. His wife Adele has left him to pursue her painting in Berlin, taking their young daughter Olive with her. A new relationship with the alluringly candid Hazel has prematurely run aground. And a mysterious condition is systematically shutting down each of his body’s autonomic functions. Worried about the transience of his life, he moves his theater company to a warehouse in New York City. He directs them in a celebration of the mundane, instructing each to live out their constructed lives in a growing mockup of the city outside.
