Former North Carolina Republican Senator, Jesse Helms, noted opponent of civil rights, the MLK holiday, extending voting rights, the United Nations, the Test Ban Treaty, affirmative action, arts funding, and anything at all to do with gay rights is finally dead as a doornail.
