Janet didn't go out because she was bored. (where did you get see her spending an hour being bored) She was out with famous fashion designer Tom Ford (she's been depicted as a Fashion Designer for years, and any real fashion line comes with a certain amount of schmoozing over drinks). Janet probably had a few too many #1 because she was having fun, and Jan has always been the (pardon the expression) most flighty of the Avengers (she used to practically change costumes ever 2 issues), and #2 because she is pissed at Hank who NEVER comes with her to support HER work (can you see him lifting a finger to assist with anything as superficial as a fashion line?), she doesn't like their new life and probably feels as neglected as Sue Storm without the love. Having her come home a bit toasted and get into a row with Hank and then leave him seems completely in character to me, if a bit too convenient a way to get him alone and vulnerable to replacement. What was out of character was him not hitting her. (I'll give you her line about not kissing anyone felt wrong for Janet - she may be flighty but she's not that trampy - despite her penchant for revealing high fashion clothes. The biggest common thread found in stories about Hank Pym, is that he is brilliant and a wee bit unstable. As far as I'm concerned anyone who would hit a woman is capable of cheating on her. Especially if his rejected male ego needs some massaging. Plus Jan did just leave him AGAIN. Not saying it is brilliant characterization, but I don't find it out of character, and I've been reading the Avengers since the Jocasta days. I did take umbrage with Bendis' Disassembled characterization of Wanda. I hate what Marvel always does with their powerful women. How about some comments on something you liked? The bit with Jan and Hank Pym in MA #15 is similar to sequences seen in, I’d guess, hundreds to thousands of stories and videos. A bored wife goes out, drinks too much, comes back drunk, gets in a fight with her husband--all very familiar stuff; in a porn story, the wife would have had adulterous sex and then been blackmailed into becoming a slut. The bit is completely wrong for Jan, though; she wouldn’t have spent an hour being bored when she could just fly back home, and wouldn’t have gotten into such a situation in the first place. The idea of Pym hopping into bed with a stranger, even someone who practically begged him to f*** her, is nonsensical, given his personality and history. People who think that superheroes are basically junk, and that the writer can do with them whatever he thinks looks good in the story at the moment might love the MA #15 bit, but in terms of character continuity, the piece is garbage. I don't think they will use the aftermath of Si to change everything back to what it was, but I'm thinking I will like where the pieces fall then better than where they are now. Seems like people either love OR hate the Secret Invasion backstory issues... Bendis does to Jan in MA #15 what he did to Wanda in “Avengers Disassembled,” writing the character as though he’s never read a good story about her, or as though he doesn’t care what her actual personality is, and turns Pym into a womanizer--about as likely as Stephen Hawking being a sex symbol. In NA #42, Bendis repeats panels from NA #14; apparently nobody has told him that the dialogue dealing with her “genetic tissue” was meaningless gobbledygook Changing any number of S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA personnel into Skrulls won’t magically change Bendis’s NEW AVENGERS material, up to NA #23, from failed, meandering conspiracy/corruption material into something else.
