Marvel 1985 #1 (of 6)

Written by MARK MILLAR
Art by TOMMY LEE EDWARDS

Cover by OLIVIER COIPEL
Variant Cover by TOMMY LEE EDWARDS

I’d been wondering what this was since I first saw the name, but it didn’t REALLY start to intrigue me until I saw the cover. Now that I’ve read more about it and seen some of the interiors… I’m sold.

Marvel 1985 #1

This seems like the Marvel Universe version of “Earth-Prime” (DC Comics name for the Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths version of OUR earth. A place where the superpowered heroes only exist on the pages of comic books, tv and movies). The hero of our story is a 13 year old comic book reader in 1985. When he sees Secret Wars and want to but it, the guy at the comic book store tells him… “Secret Wars is probably the most popular comic book of the last ten years, little man. Demand is so high, you either pre-order this title or you go home with Dazzler.”

Before SECRET INVASION…before WORLD WAR HULK…before CIVIL WAR… The most powerful super-villains in the Marvel Universe gather their might to wreak havoc on the one place they’ve never before set foot—YOUR WORLD! As mankind’s enemies cut a swath of destruction with unprecedented ferocity and ruthlessness, the fate of the planet rests in the hands of one person: Toby, a 13-year-old boy who holds the key to uniting his comic-book idols, the Marvel Heroes!

From the solicit, It sounds like the Marvel villains invade and then the kid somehow brings the heroes. I wish it had come out in 1985 whenI was almost the kids age. Plus its pretty.

Superstars Mark Millar (CIVIL WAR, FANTASTIC FOUR) and Tommy Lee Edwards (BULLET POINTS, The Question) deliver a Marvel Event the likes of which you’ve never seen!

read a full review here. I’ll tell you on the 29th if I agree.
