Entertainment Weekly suggests we all do some homework before seeing that Comic Book Movie this summer

Entertainment Weekly’s suggestions for summer reading…

Before you see Iron Man (out May 2), read Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle by David Michelinie and Bob Layton

I’m really excited to see this. I love the look of the armor and think Robert Downey Jr. is actually inspired casting, and Gwyneth looks great as redhead Pepper Potts!

More Trailers and reading suggestions after the jump…

Before you see Speed Racer (out May 9), read Speed Racer: Mach Go Go Go by Tatsuo Yoshida

I was never a big Speed Racer fan so I don’t know the property well, but it looks colorful. I was a bit surprised at the star level of the cast until I realized it is coming from the Wachowski’s.

Before you see The Incredible Hulk (out June 13), read Hulk: Gray by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale

I actually skipped the Ang Lee hulk film. The previews of it did nothing for me. Now this is an Incredible Hulk movie! HULK SMASH!

Before you see Wanted (out June 27), read Wanted by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones

I still don’t get the reasoning behind removing the most exciting part of the original series… the idea that decades ago, the super villains wiped out the heros, took over the world (running things behind the scenes) and made everyone forget Super Heroes ever existed was the backbone of an excellent miniseries. It still looks interesting, I hadn’t realized that the director of the Russian Night Watch trilogy was behind it.

Before you see Hellboy II: The Golden Army (out July 11), read Hellboy: Darkness Calls by Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo (available in paperback on May 9)

Loved the first movie, psyched to see all the originals back for another tale of Demon vs evil. i hope we see baby Hellboy again in flashback, he was so adorable. Did they make a figure?

Before you see The Dark Knight (out July 18), read Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale

Speaks for itself!

And here’s a bonus trailer for Batman: Gotham Knight
