Secret Invasion - Who’s a Skrull?
I figure since this is yesterdays news, it won’t spoil anything for you…
Its just such a cool shot I had to post it.
FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: White Queen, Spider-Man, Beast, Luke Cage, Thor, Wonder Man, Invisible Girl (looks pre-wedding), Phoenix, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch (let it be so!!!), Jewel, Mockingbird, Captain America (Steve Rogers - again let it be so!!!), Ms. Marvel and Wolverine.
Now, Who is a skrull and who is real? your guess is as good as mine. A few observations… most obvious is era most seem to come from. With a few exceptions (White Queen would be in panties and a corset from same era as most, and Phoenix’s original green costume has a black triangle that extended slightly past the gold phoenix symbol - this looks more like costume she wore in Alaska while she and Cyclops were “on a break from the X-Men” during the Chris Bachalo era. Also we seem to have a number of couples or triangles in play… Hawkeye/Mockingbird, Jewel/Luke Cage (though they probably didn’t even know each other in this era), Ms. Marvel/Wonder Man and Vision/Scarlet Witch/Wonder Man. Also We have Emma and Jean, yet no Scott.
So with Reed (temporarily i assume) incapacitated (a pile of goo), he’ll likely be replaced before anyone else sees him and they will have no way to tell the Skrulls from the real thing (aside from the fact that their fashion sense is 20 years off - maybe they are like the vampires on Buffy and that’s the way to spot them - Must be hard to keep up with who is wearing what when you live in distant space.
Anyway - I’m SURE that not all these 70’s heroes are real. Some if not most will end up being Skrulls in place to cause dissension and confusion during the invasion. I hope Cap and Wanda are real. I’d love if Mockingbird was real, but we have seen her “soul” come back from hell to help out former teammates, so I doubt it is her. I REALLY hope it is the real Steve Rogers and the death of Cap was all part of Skrull plot. Jewel could be real - Luke Cage knocked up a Skrull - explains baby Cage’s Skrully eyes in a random panel we saw in New Avengers.
